1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Unkown artist sculpts

Mar 14, 2021

    1. Hello everyone,

In the last few months I got more picky about buying dolls. I see myself more and more looking for the extraordinary and buying rather the sculpts of some very talented but small unknown artists.

My last one for example is from a secret order on Weibo, all I know is the artist name but I've never seen her profile. I stumbled over her boy and completely fell in love :love He's one of the most handsome sculpts I've ever seen.

This thread is about these precious sculpts no one knows. I would be curious about yours and also love to make new discoveries (who knows, someday they'll become bigger companies?)

Please note: With unkown dolls and small artists there of course is a risk about the standards of dollmaking not being followed. Please make sure the doll is according to Den of Angels rules: no recasts, no 3D printed dolls, made of resin etc.

      Looking forward :D

    2. I follow a lot of amazingly talented artists on Weibo, so I have a bunch that I could mention here! I've been really into super stylized dolls lately, and anime inspired sculpts seem to be really big right now.

I have a doll from the artist 雁书几闻 (Yanshujiwen?) on the way- They recently collaborated with Island Doll on their Tear Island line! The doll I got is their anime style doll (which comes in 1/4 and 1/6 size):

And I also recently ordered a doll from the artist 喵蟹煲 who makes adorable anthro dolls in a very distinctive style.

There's also slightly more well-known artists like Gokidoll, ShouShou Doll Puyoo Doll and Imomodoll that have been gaining popularity lately. It's pretty exciting seeing previously obscure artists becoming super popular.

    3. I have a Lulu from independent artist Momo Studio (who goes by guozimo72 on Instagram). She's approved for topicality by the DoA mods, so I could share her pic here. She's very organic-looking owing to the artist sculpting her without 3D software from the ground up, but that adds to her charm, IMO. I originally bought her for her body (for a hybrid that did not work out), but I ended up liking the doll a lot more than I thought. She's well-engineered, although I do have issues getting her to stand steadily (but that may be because I restrung her to be more floppy).

    4. I think Hierophantmori's guys are wonderful, though I rarely see any talk about them Login • Instagram

    5. So, there is this unknown artist, gosh, I don't know the name but they make this one doll head *chef's kiss* its perfection...but I don't know about it.

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. I came to comment about hierophantmori's dolls cause someone had recommended them to me, but Datsuki beat me to it.
I often browse the #artistbjd on Instagram and see where it takes me. Sometimes I find new sculptors and other times I hit dead ends.

    6. Yes Weibo is the best for BJD stuff, whether its looking at faceups, doll clothing, accessories, or the doll sculpts themselves. They are so talented and have good sense. Amazing detail as well. I wish I had a friend in China who could get me those things!

    7. Oh yeah but they are not for sale yet, Aren't they? I once talked to the artist.
If they are now I would buy one.
      Really love them

      That's a good Hashtag, I will check it :3nodding:

I can't even log in to weibo....... Not permitted. :|

    8. I know the ones I linked are awaiting release, but as for previous sculpts, I'm unsure!

    9. I'm a fan of KovalenkoDolls. She normally makes porcelain BJDs with the cutest faces, but she just opened preorder for her resin MSD, and I think the body of her doll is absolutely stunning. Her face sculpts are cute, too.

There's a lot of unknown artists on livemaster.ru and etsy that I love, actually. just putting 'BJD' in the search engine yields interesting results.

    10. you have to download Wechat first and make a Wechat, then connect your Weibo to your Wechat. That's the only thing that worked for me as a foreigner

    11. Thanks I will try it

    12. I ordered a MaddyBear Dolls Elle a few days ago. It was their very first preorder.

    13. That's so exciting! I also managed to order Elle ^^
Do you have plans on her design?

    14. Oh! They have a head sculpt that I really want, the special version here, but I'm not sure how to order it. It looks like a deposit but I don't know how I would go about ordering the special zombie head. Do you have any advice in how I can order it? I love this head and I want it so bad :(

    15. @Szybil I hate to say this, but it looks like that head isn't available now... :eusa_sileThe listing you linked to looks like an "intention" page, which in my experience is a way for the artist to gauge whether there's enough interest to start selling something. I think they're sorta wrapped up with their anime doll preorders right now, but the good news is that it looks like they're considering a second run of that head eventually.

When/if they do open up that head for sale again, though, it looks like you should be able to select the zombie head right above where you select the resin color. :3nodding:

    16. @0bsequi0us Oh that's great! I'll have to remember to keep checking their taobao page and hope the head goes back up!

    17. I just got recommended an artist on IG, with the first 75cm male body sculpt that I would've immediately plopped all the monies on, no dithering required (lol), but luckily the universe decided I shouldn't discover this artist until 2 days after the small pre-order window. Im waiting to see if the mods determine their on topic-ness.

    18. Thank you for sharing all these excellent names to google and understand more about BJD.
