1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Unsure Whether to Sell...

Aug 25, 2013

    1. So I just bought my first doll this year, and despite my love of the hobby, and my adoration of other dolls, I am just not really loving her at all. Still, I feel bad selling her so soon.
It's also a largely uncharted territory, selling her, and I am overall just nervous about it.

There's also the question of getting another doll. If I sold mine, it would be fairly unlikely that I would purchase another anytime soon, since I am just starting college and need money for other things.

I don't have any doll-owning friends to discuss this with, and I just wanted to see if anyone could offer an opinion or advice.

      Thanks. :aheartbea

    2. If you're not bonding with your doll and you tried changing the face up, clothing style, etc. then selling is the best thing to do. While I don't look at my dolls and think MONEYBAGSSSS, this is an expensive hobby, I don't buy $200 shoes only to not wear them. If you're afraid. You won't have a doll in the end I think you should either try trading in the MP or sell the doll and immediately order another one. Unless you're pressed for cash I don't see why you can't order a new doll. Maybe taking a hiatus from the hobby will help you, it definitely helped me.

    3. I agree with Eri-chan. If the bond just simply isn't there, then it just isn't. I've put a doll on the market as fast as two weeks after getting him because as soon as I held him, I just knew that I wouldn't bond. Sometimes a doll doesn't look like its pictures, or the posing is really bad, or something else you couldn't tell from pix just puts you off so bad you know you'll never like that doll.

I've sold a lot of dolls, and the most important points of selling are to have prompt and friendly communication, accurately describe your doll and the condition its in, pack her very safely, and ship on time. It can be scary at first, but it's really not so hard. :)

    4. Maybe pack her away for a bit and see if you miss her? That's what I did with my Lea when I was thinking about selling her.

Selling isn't so bad, like CloakedSchemer said. The scariest part for me was shipping and worrying about whether she'd make it to her new home okay... but I'm naturally a worrier.

    5. Hi Kara.Boo,

Unfortunately nobody can really decide what is best for you >n< it's certainly a tough situation to be in... Sometimes just a faceup change or refresher is needed to bond with a doll and really fall in love. ^u^ So give it a try, but if it doesn't work out, that's not a bad thing either, maybe it just wasn't meant to be.

Since this is a very personal decision, it's much more suited to a personal blog or LJ, that's why I'm locking this thread.
