Unusual Doll Sizes

    1. I've searched and searched but I haven't found a similar thread, please feel free to point me towards one if it already exists! (And if isn't the right place to post it, I'm really sorry about that as well!)

      There are "standard" doll sizes, like SD, MSD, YoSD... But between these sizes, there aren't very many sculpts. Of course there isn't much clothing either, but that can be remedied with hand-made stuff ;)

      I'm mainly curious about which dolls are available between the "standard" MSD and SD sizes, so something in the 45 - 60 cm range, and whether these dolls look more like short SDs or tall MSDs.

      I know of the existence of Souldoll Vito, and some of the Doll Chateau bodies with the extra joints. Is there anything else in this range out there?

    2. Junior Delf dolls from Luts are about 56 cm tall. But other that the 2 you already listed I don't know of any others.

    3. Volks SD10 dolls are sort-of in that range as well... They're shorter than the SD13s.

    4. I have a 57cm boy that was a collaboration project between AoD and LE Doll, but there were only 38 of him made so he's not a "standard" doll. He is like a short SD though. He is noticeably shorter than my 61cm dolls.

      Soom has their Idealian 51 line and they are 51cm boys, but like so many Soom dolls, they are not always offered and when they are, it's usually for a limited period of time.

      And of course, there's the Vito line by Souldoll you mentioned. BBB also had a boy who was... 55cm I think. Toby might have been his name *scratches head*. I'm not sure if he's still available or discontinued.

      For taller MSD's, my Doll-Love and Illusion Spirit boys are both 46cm tall.

ResinSoul has a range of 58cm dolls, Bobobie has a range of 50cm dolls, DollFamily's SD girls are usually 58cm, Impldoll Model sizes are 56cm (female) and 58cm (male)...seems to me like most female SD sizes are a little under 60cm, while most male SD sizes are over 60cm. And YES, I was looking at the BJDs Under $300 list... :sweat

    6. The Dollstown Elf body is a popular "off size" bjd. She's 52.5cm (new body), or 53cm (old body), and looks like a small SD for the most part, although she wears more MSD clothes than SD clothes! Shinydoll "SD" size girls are 55cm, and are small SD's, that are quite slender, and the best posing doll I have seen.

    7. Too many dolls to mention, I think, are non-standard these days! Seems like doll-makers are feeling free not to worry about sculpting to the old standard sizes.

      I think the mature sculpts look like mature sculpts, no matter how tall they are. They will look strange next to dolls that aren't to their scale. That's just how it is, I think. *_*

    8. My 40cm Orientdoll is the most mature looking of all my guys. He's the oddest size out because he's slender and has realistic proportions where my 45s are thicker and more doll like.

    10. Souldolls Kids Boys on the New Line body (N.L. Body) are 47 cm.
      Vitos, ID51s have already been mentioned.
      SQLab Ladies are also 50-ish (don't remember exactly).
      Oceanmoon girls are also in that range.
      Island Doll boys are 46 cm.
      That's all I can currently think of.

    11. The Idealians I find are like a category all on their own. They look kinda weird next to other SDs or immature MSDs, since they're so mature yet short. :O

    12. The new Doll Leaves SD boy body is only about 56-57cm, but definitely fits the SD range.

      Obitsu has a 55cm boy who looks like a short SD. They also have 50cm girls.

      Jie Doll SD girls are only 56cm.

      Lati Blue boys are around 47cm, I think?

    13. Well my Unoa is 42 cm tall and the JID Boys and girls collection from the Iple house are around 46 cm tall. All are consider to be msd size and a friend of mine showed me a pic to see the comparison between SD size and MSD size and she is right they dont interact together!:lol:

    14. I'm not sure, but I believe the Latidoll Reds also have an odd size, or maybe they were the Lati Blue's. Also Shinydoll's Thaasa is about 56 cm tall.

      At the risk of sounding like shameless self-promotion, I just wanted to add that FreakStyle Puck is 57/58 cm tall.

    15. Ocean Moon makes a 50cm doll, and Volks Dollfie Dream Sister is also 50cm. I have DDS and she's cute :). She does look like a younger sister next to my standard DD girls. She wears regular SD clothes. I look for things that are a little on the small side or that are stretchy. I have a cute Ajumapama outfit for her that she wears a lot. I think there's also an Obitsu 50cm vinyl doll, though I'm not sure if she is on topic.

      I also have a few Angel Egg dolls that are 38cm. They are more slim and elongated in proportion. Clothing for them would be a problem if mine wore clothes, but they're sculpted & blushed so beautifully they will be eternally naked :)

    17. Fairyland's Chiclines are pretty mature looking dolls and they're only 40 cm tall. They're a very weird bunch, but I love my Rou.

    19. I really only collect MSDs, most hovering around 45cm, but I am actually totally open the the in between sizes. 30-something cm sizes as well as those around 50 cm are both ok with me as long as they make sense and are kind of in scale with my other dolls.

    20. As I recall, quite a number of boys from different companies falls in the range, Dream of Doll boys are 45cm, other such as Angel of Dream, Latidoll and Iplehouse boys do all have the same height of 46cm:)

      As a matter of fact, quite a no. of years ago, Customhouse (or Aidolls now) use to have their 1/4 in 47cm (only girls available if I am not wrong), known as the "Jr. Ai", but finally they have given up the old one and release the new 1/4 line known as "Junior Ai" now that stands in 42cm, I think it's because back then it is a rare size without much accessories for them.

      And SD 10, Feeple 60 girls are 55cm-ish so it really depends on whether you are looking for girls or boys.;)
