It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. USA Volks Store?...It might happen!

Feb 21, 2005

    1. I saw this bit of news on another doll board, the news from Toyfair is that Volks is going to be looking for a place to open a shop...IN THE USA!!! Hope it's in NY or LA...I'm bicoastal LOL.

    2. *mixed feelings about this* XD;

    3. I live and work in NYC, and I have to pass the American Girl ( :barf ) and future site of the Friends2B (or whatever they're called) stores all the time. Volks has to open a store here to bring balance!!!

    4. It will probably be New York but... i really hope it's Chicago! this is great news!

      ~Erin

    5. I hope its in Sarasota, FL ...

    6. OMG, if one opens in New York I'd actually be able to visit it! :D

    7. I bet BJDs will get cheaper just after I make my next major dolly purchase...

    8. thats cool. but I'd never, ever be able to see it.

unless they open it in houston.

      theirs a big laugh.

    9. I have mixed feelings about this also. How did you find out again? I think it might not happen for a long time, since they don't even have the online order available for us in US.

    10. ooo if they do i hope it will be in california. there is no way i would be able to make it to new york.

    11. Speaking of Volks expanding .. . ..

In Haute Doll's Super Dollfie issue, the main article on the Volks company mentioned that Volks was expanding their buildings and resources there in Japan, although it didn't say anything about expansion outside of Japan. I wonder what is going on with that?
Wow. A Volks store in the U.S. might be neat.

    12. I'd love for it to be in NY, but I have a feeling that it will end up being in California.

    13. Well, it should. ^__________^
Afterall, we're closer to Japan. ;P
*starts rooting for the SF Volks store*

    14. muahaha.... me 'n my sister had the greatest idea (for us anyway^_^)

they are soon going to start work on DOUBLEING the Mall of America, and then it will be the biggest mall in the world! muahahahaha...erk... anyway...dosnt it seem plausible that they would put the Volks store in the biggest mall in the world?!

      hehehe....
      love thinking about that^_^
      ~Ame

PS. it actually said this US expansion thing in Haute Doll too :chibi

    15. omg i always thought id be sooo happy to hear about this but now im considering how much interest i may lose if sd's were so easily available :? . If they move to the U.S how special will they be? :(

    16. nooo i dont like the idea of it comeing to america.... part of the reason i like dollfies is because they arent well known... it will be like anime all over again. witch everyone knowing about it. and soon the magick will be gone...

but i can see good it in. stuff will be cheaper i guess. but stilllllllll.... i dont wanna see the prepy mean girls and the read neck woman in my town carring around dollfies -.-.

    17. I don't think they'd be any less special, esp. since they'd probably still be imports (setting up a store doesn't impart setting up a factory where they can build the dolls, mold them etc...). I mean, I don't know if they'd set up a shop like that or not. IMO, it's the owner that makes the doll special, not the necessarily the doll itself. hehe

I'm happy to hear there might be a Volks store coming to the US. I think it might be fun! To be able to go to a physical Volks store without having to spend thousands on airfare, hundreds on a hotel etc...etc...Sounds very intriguing. I can't wait to hear more about it. :)

    18. They'll still be lovely, special dolls to me. I don't see how making it easier for people to obtain them or their accessories would lessen their beauty in any way. They will still be hand-made pieces of art.

If you're worried about everybody having one, consider that they're unlikely to drop in price unless the dollar suddenly has a Rocky Balboa like comeback.

For the time being they're going to remain lovely, special, beautiful AND EXPENSIVE.

    19. I'm going to come off as harsh ... but if you stop loving your dolls just because more people know about them and maybe have them, then really ... how much did you love them to begin with? Really? Isn't it like, "I loved you because you were sexy but now that you're not sexy, I don't love you anymore"? Okay, maybe not as stupid, but close.

But maybe it won't even be very SD-focused. Maybe it will just carry a lot of the model kits and toys and 1/6's. Or maybe we'll be super lucky and get an FCS that doesn't want to rape our pockets so much.

It's all speculation at this point. Wait until there's a real, final word before you complain and when you do complain ... hopefully it will be for legitimate reasons.

    20. I loved anime before it was popular, and I still love it now that everyone else thinks it's cool. I believe I like it even more now because I have access to more of it, and more people to talk to and share it with. I wouldn't have met my current circle of close IRL friends if not for anime being such a boom here. If the US anime selection had never gone any further than dusty VHS copies of Akira and Devilman hidden in the back aisles of Blockbuster, I'd probably have lost interest in it by now.

I wouldn't mind seeing the same happen to BJDs. It'd be great of they were more accessible.

I really don't care if I do see 5 year olds dragging them around in the dirt because Volks has opened a store on every corner (next to Starbucks, natch), I'll still love my boys as much as I do now. The fact that they are special to me has nothing to do with anyone else.

Furthermore, I would hope that careful expansion of their market could only help bolster Volks' sales and keep themand other companies in business - and BJDs available to us - that much longer.
