1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Volks offering KIPS for all dolls at Tenshi no Sato

Apr 24, 2007

    1. This is slightly delayed news, but I was just catching up on reading Volks' weekly email magazine and noticed in the April 6th issue that they mentioned that the Beauty Salon at Tenshi no Sato now offers applying KIPS to all your dolls.

So if you wanted to get those rubber parts put into the joints of any of your SD to help with posing, and you happen to be going to Sato, take your dolly to the Beauty Salon and request that they do KIPS for you. :D

(Yes, you have to pay, but it's worth it to make someone else do the hard work for you, right? ;) )

    2. What is KIPS?

    3. They're little silicone sheets that are put into the arms and ankles of SDs to help with posing. ^^ They're great! We started carrying them in the store and I put some in Kellen. His arms pose like a dream now.

This is a neat service since some people don't wanna take their dolls apart, especially the oldskins! But personally I'd just do it myself every time. It's not too difficult in my opinion.

    4. I called Volks and asked how they accepted this service.

      1) You can take your doll to the Beauty Salon OR send the body. The price is 1 seat (on 1 place) 525yen. If you want Doll Doctor to set KIPS on 5 places (neck, arms), you need to pay 525 x 5 = 2,625yen.

      2) You don't need to buy KIPS set by yourself. 525yen includes the price of KIPS seat itself. And you can't receive the rest of KIPS seat in KIPS set, because they don't use KIPS set for shops. They use KIPS for salon.

      3) You can order KIPS service as one of Satogeri at FCS. (since 2007/7/14)

    5. I apologize if this is off-topic, since I want to mention the Tenshi no Sumika in Los Angeles: I dont mean to speculate, but I think if you buy a new doll at the Volks USA store, then you can also buy KIPS discs and ask the employee to install them for you.

I was at the Volks store, and I overheard a new MSD owner who bought a MSD at the store, and she received this offer.

This seems to be available only to dolls bought at the store AND at the same time you buy it. It is NOT for dolls that you have already bought in the past.

    6. I think what may have been meant is that you could have a Volks employee at the store install the discs if you buy both doll and discs at the same time. A package of the discs can be readily puchased from the store or online with Volks USA or Volks International. You can install them in any doll from any company youself. I purchased a few packages from Volks International and have put them in both my older Volks dolls and a couple of my CP/Luts dolls. There is nothing about the discs themselves that require they only be used with Volks dolls.

    7. Thank you for that clarification, julia.

I posted to share the fact that if you buy a new doll at the Volks LA store, then the employees can install KIPS discs into the doll for you for free of charge. All you have to do is pay for the doll and the discs.

Of course, you can buy the KIPS discs at the store or online. And these discs can be used on older Volks dolls, non-Volks dolls, etc., since theyre merely just rubber/silicon washers. People can also install the discs themselves without Volks help. I just wanted to make people aware that the store offers this service ONLY when they buy a new doll, rather than buy KIPS discs and think that they have to do it themselves at home.

I hope I havent confused anyone else. And I sincerely hope that no one misconstrues my words to think that KIPS discs are more complicated or difficult than they really are.

I apologize if this has been an excessive reply, but I feel that I need to be more clear when I share my thoughts on this forum.

    8. Reviving an oldish thread, but just posting to say that KIPS disc installation appears to be free at the LA Sumika, even with a doll you didn't buy at the store. I took my Cecile to be restrung, and bought a set of KIPS to install in his neck and ankles and they restrung & installed the discs for me free of charge. All I needed to buy were the discs themselves and they did the rest :)
