1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Volks School Heads go UV Protect + bodies available at Sato classes

Feb 3, 2007

    1. In the most recent email newsletter, Volks announced that as of February 17th, all the School Heads that are made available for the classes at Tenshi no Sato will be in pureskin UV Protect, instead of just normal pureskin. Yay! :D
In addition, attendees of the classes will now also be able to purchase SD13 boy bodies or SD10 girl bodies to go with their new heads. These will also be pureskin UV Protect. The prices are 61,950yen for SD13 boys, 44,100yen for SD10 girls.

Anyway, I just thought it was exciting to know that the school heads are going UV Protect, so I thought I would share it with you all. :D

    2. So does that mean SD13 boy bodies and SD10 girl bodies have the same size neck?

    3. No, SD13 boys have a circumference of about 10cm, SD10 girls (and boys and SD13 girls) are 9cm. However all Volks heads have always been compatible for both sized necks, especially the school heads. Obviously occasionally sometimes the head will look a bit too big (or small) for the neck, but for the school heads it's generally not a problem. I have seen A, B and C heads on both SD13 boy and SD10 girl/boy bodies that look perfectly fine. :)

    4. How much are the heads? o.o

    5. Awesome news!

      So SD-13 Girl bodies won't be available though...just SD-10?

    6. the price 44,100yen is for the body and teh head or body only. yay

    7. I think that's only for the bodies, or it would be a bit "cheap"

    8. Oh, I don't know why, but I thought the DP16 School Heads were already UV. Wonder where I got that o___o;;;

I guess now we know the value of an SD13 body, though, since Volks has never sold them seperately.

    9. Any idea if the bodies will have the silicon pads in their joints, like all the new LEs? And do they offer the chance to have esthetics done to the bodies?

    10. I thought just the SD16's had silicon? If not, what "new LEs" have them?

    11. I know that the new H. Naoto SD Kurumi has them.

    12. Is UV protect a coating put on the doll, or is it in the resin?

      ^^;

(this is neat news, if I could attend a class T__T)

I wonder how the old, non UV heads will be in price now.

    13. The new UV protect heads actually have the protection in the resin. :) I was wondering about the prices of the older school heads too...we'll have to watch the market.

    14. is the school C head UV protect?

    15. How do you get the Volks newsletter?

*please forgive me if this question is not allowed in news but I'm sure other people might be curious also*

    16. Does Volks still prefer that non-Japanese speakers do no take the school classes?

    17. kyos_kilt: The heads are 15,440yen from Volks, plus you pay 1,500yen to take the class. Of course since they are only available if you take the class, the 2ndhand market prices are very different. From memory, on Y!JA School A goes for around 30,000yen, School B goes for around 20,000-25,000yen.

gothiclibrarian: Nope, no SD13 girl bodies.. just SD10. Don't ask me why, I guess they are just offering the most popular types!

akaioni: 44,100yen is for the body only. The head is an extra 15,440yen. At the time I took the class, you could buy both A and B heads if you wanted, but I don't know if you can buy both bodies at once or not.

usagi665: There's no mention of the silicon jointing. Also no mention of esthetics, but I doubt that they would offer it. They don't offer it for any other bodies unless you opt for Satogaeri, so...

mortimer: As Junkets said, the UV Protect is actually a new mix of resin, so it's in the resin, not a coating. Meaning you can coat and remove coating as often as you want, and they're still UV Protected, yay! :)

momiji80: Yes, the School C was always UV Protect, but it's only been offered at a few select Dolpas. It's not available at Sato.

HF: You can sign up for the newsletter here. However, it's entirely in Japanese so unless you can read Japanese it's not very useful. :sweat

muffin: As far as I'm aware their stance on this is the same as before. However I guess if you do happen to be in Japan or going to Japan when a class is on, it's always worth asking just in case. :)

    18. I would love to get my hand on a School head A... Would anyone know the schedule for the classes in Volks Japan?? Maybe I can plan my holiday according to those days :D ! Many thanks!

    19. I wonder about the NY Dolpa in the summer? Maybe they will offer the heads and bodies there too? They will have to have the heads for the Makeup class, I hope they do the head/body combo too. I think it would make the Dolpa even more attractive if folk could get a whole doll when they take the makeup class.

    20. Chiyochi:
      The schedule is listed here:
      http://www.volks.co.jp/jp/volks/tenshinosato/dsc.aspx
The next classes for which you can buy school heads (not all classes have that option) are the Lip Makeup class on February 17th and the Pastel Makeup class on March 4th.

However classes have very limited numbers (18 per class) and entrants are decided in advance by lottery. (You email in advance.) In addition, Volks' policy thus far has been that they generally don't allow foreigners to take the class because they can't speak Japanese and the classes are done entirely in Japanese. You can email them to see if they will allow you, as who knows, they may have changed the policy, but I just thought I'd let you know that that's probably going to be the case. :sweat

Also, if you are going to Sato, even if you're not taking a painting class, please be sure to book in advance, as you need a booking to go. :)
