What attracts you to your BJDs?

Oct 23, 2011

    1. So why do you love the style, size, shape, ect of your BJD? Do you find your self gravitating to one type of face or another? Dose the bod have to be "prefect" for you to even so much as LOOK at the head? ect.

I want to know why you bought the dolls you bought! :3

For me my first doll was because of the price. sad to say, I love her she is cute as a button but it was the price I looked at most. My second was because of the eyes and my third was due to price and lastly my forth was the legs <3

Now i seem ot love thin half closed eyes and anything with a strange body type. Horse legs are my favorite! I am also very attracted to ears. So what about you guys? :3

    2. It's definitely the face and the body type that attracts me to dolls. If I don't like the face or body, I don't want it. Though fantasy parts are a plus, that's why my second was a hoofed girl (RS BBB Ai). Price is also a big factor for me because I'm not made of money.

    3. Honestly, at first it was the price for me as well. My mom would NEVER let me get a doll if it costed $700. After seeing all the sizes of dolls, and buying my Littlefee, I've really become attached to MSD size. They aren't too big to carry and hold, but aren't so small that they're hard to pose and deal with.

I also prefer dolls with small noses and mouths with stylized looks, but it depends on the character I'm going for. The body isn't really something I look at unless I want something specific.

    4. I too, bought my first doll because she was inexpensive, but I also thought she was very cute. That one is visiting a face up artist for a fresh makeover. The other two I bought for their faces. The face has to look beautiful/cute to me or I wouldn't consider the doll. Since all of my dolls are YOSD or smaller, body shape is secondary to me. However, my first doll (an older Bambicrony) has hands that I think are too big for the body and face. It isn't a huge problem with me, though.

    5. Larin-Lazet Oh littlefees are soooo cute. I agree my second girl (who is coming tomorrow OMG YES) is an MSD. I like them cause there lighter. I think my favotire is the Yo-SD. there hand sized <3. I agree with you on the body, if it covered by cloths who cares!

Valfal oh nice, I love the smaller sizes best. And thats good i have a few stains on one of my dolls but they don't bother me.

    6. The head is the most important to me. Well, the face. I am very, very particular about the shape and placement of the features. I don't like overly large features, to include chins.

For the bodies I look mostly at the chests and hands. On my boys I like a defined torso and slender, feminine hands.

One thing I'm starting to pay more attention to is joints. I didn't know there were differences when I bought my first doll, but now I'm seeing everything from thigh joints to jointed feet. Less is more in that department for me. Seams bother some people, but joints irritate me more. I'd rather have them covered up. I know they're ball-JOINT dolls but the less of those joints I can see, the better.

    7. When I started the hobby, price was my first attraction. Then I looked to face molds. :) AOD was my first company (at I still have plans for two more from them) for their prices, and once I got to their site, I looked for faces with medium-sized eyes, and medium-sized mouths. I ended up with 4 :XD:

Once I got all the cheaper dolls that I liked form AOD, I stopped worrying about price so much.
At this point, I look for a few things in a face mold, depending on male or female dolls. On boys, I like slightly smaller eyes, broad noses, and full mouths. Of course, it does depend on each mold itself, but I do find that I lean towards dolls that have those features. The same goes for female dolls as well - for them, I like small noses, slightly larger eyes, and full mouths. Or a tiny mouth, depending on the character.

I don't look at bodies too much - while poseability is always nice, it's pretty much always the face that makes me stay or go.

    8. It's all about the face for me, but the body has to fit the proportions of the head, otherwise, I make a hybrid. Price is the least of my considerations because if I love it enough, I will save until I can bring it home.

    9. It depends . Each doll I bought , I love different things about them . For example with Leeke Mihale , I`m in love with his pout . With Dollzome Mo , I fell for his nose and eyes . and so on . Body doesn`t influence me much ( unless we`re talkind DollChateu-I`m madly inlove with those but ain`t gonna buy any ) unless it`s a onepiece torso which I in no doubt HATE . But usually if the body is ok , and the face is beautifull , that`s what matters to me.

    10. The face, for sure. If I don't like the face, I will not buy a doll. Size is also a factor - I prefer MSDs so I find myself gravitating towards the smaller dolls, although I'm not overly fond of tinies. Skintone is my third factor, as I lovelovelove tans but they're so hard to find!

    11. I'm open to/love all sizes, kinds (human/fantasy) and company's BJD.
However it's the face modes that's important to me and with the right face up. I (and my family) have to live and admire them years long. Second it's the pricing, I buy mine second hand and still they can be quite expensive.
Body join is second, standing is not a problem, it's trying to sit them properly is my the problem without them bending backward or popping the torso.
I love all kind of skin tones, I found if the face up is done properly, it will go with any skin colors.
I've been looking/researching all BJD modes and I kept going back to Luts Lishe, there's just something about her that keep making go back to her, her face and body are just lovely and I hope to own one someday.

    12. To be honest, I'm not quite sure. However, I seem to be sub-consciously drawn to girls with 'droopy' mouths, (Impl Xiaowei, Doll Love Lincy, AOD Bing Sheng)

    13. I bought Tabby (Lati Yellow Sp. Lami) because I fell in love with the face and had to have her. I got her in the bigger Yellow Special size because I really liked that body and thought I could do more with her than if I got the regular Yellow size. I got Toreth (Lati Blue Cara) because I really liked her face. I tend to look at the head more than the body. :)

    14. Legs and size <3

    15. faces, to me they are the biggest selling points.

My first doll was a 70 cm I fell totally in love with, I now own 3 70cm and I love that size. (mostly to cuddle and hug. But I love both my MSD's, yo'sd's and tinies for traveling and conventions.

The only size I don't have yet is the normal 60CM SD LOL.

But no really the biggest selling point for me is the face mold, I love cute, but also love realism. I have a harder time with dreaming faces, and I dislike most sleeping faces (to me they somehow seem les allive)

    16. Hmmm... I think I like dolls with a very soft, natural looks to them. I don't really like ones that have a sharp or severe look to them, especially in the eyes and mouth. But I don't like a very stylized or pouty look, either. Boy and girl, fairyland, dream of doll, crobidoll- these are all companies that have an aesthetic I like. (A few things that I don't care for are eyes that are too far apart, eyebrows that are too short, and lips that have an exaggerated curve. I don't mean to offend anyone who likes these features, this is just my opinion. :) )

    17. The face is the most important to me. I really like guy dolls with narrow eyes and thin mouths which is better with an obvious smirk and/or an intense look. I don't like the big eyed innocent look. The next most important would be hands and a muscular body. I don't mind any size doll but I don't like young looking sculpts so any molds I like are usually 70 cm (which is too heavy for me to carry ;n; ). The companies with aesthetics I like are Souldoll, Iplehouse, and DollClans.

    18. For me it all starts with the face - the eye shape in particular. I tend to like either narrow/sort of droopy eyes (Like DZ Fei or Feilian) or rounder more open eyes, like ResinSoul Li or FDoll Amber. I don't usually like dolls that look depressed or like they just saw a rat though. Then I like to look the body over. It generally doesn't take me long to decide whether or not I'd want the doll - though some tend to grow on me. ^^;

    19. For me, it's the reflection of current trends in Asia shown so perfectly, and also physically, the size and weight of Super Dollfie size...the larger dolls. I also like the fantasies created by owners and how it is also a reflection of our times. Thank you for asking. Alec Jiri

    20. HajimeKou Omg! I DollChateu bodies are amazing!!!! I LOVE the large male and female sooo much and the face are to DIE for!

Everyone else, owo wow. I love how many different things people look at that I never even think of!! I normal only notice small details (like nose) once I've gotten a doll. I do how ever like them to HAVE a nose i can tell is a nose lol.
