What doesn't exist in BJD that should?

Female dolls with sharp toothed smiles.
Male dolls with dad bods.

Welcome! there are a ton of possiblities about! Specially if you ever want to get your hands on customizing diy sytle~

my biggest longing is more of a nose variety in the msd sized dolls. all the variety always seems like it's in the eye shapes, but they all got the same noses ><) That and some different body types. all the chubby ones I've seen thus far are very childlike rather than just normal body. (honestly probably bothers me enough to try and make my own some day xD)

 

Argodoll has a very curvy female body.

Mature looking wigs in 6-7. I think of my MSD as adults but most wigs are styled babyish

 

more black dolls, not just dark resin but with broader features you know? In msd scale. There aren't that many out there. It's sad. ESPECIALLY boy dolls. <_<

Also more mature msd dolls that are NOT fashion scale (with the tiny heads).

Mature wigs in 5-6 scale. They're almost all bloody pigtails. Drives me nuts.

more variety in male bodies especially.

more fantasy parts in msd scale, like tails and stuff. You can get hooves fairly easily but paws, tails and such are much harder to find without it being a limited run doll. I'd also love more wings, a variety of wings and by tails I mean jointed tails. I really want jointed dang tails.

Just generally more resin colours. So many companies STILL only offer white, pinkish and maybe a tan.

more dolls in the "tall msd" scale of 50ish cm. It's starting to get more popular but i'd love to see more because standard SD is just toooo big for me.

Another thing i'd love to see more often is sculpts available in multiple scales. Like how dollshe and grando did that deal where they made the same doll available in several different scales but the exact same sculpt. There's so many SD dolls i'd love to own but they're too large for me to handle or store/display, so having the option to get those sculpts on a 40-50cm body would be incredible.

 

Age. It's really hard to find dolls that look older than their 30's.

 

More short wigs in 6/7 that look masculine for boys and men. Most of the ones I've come across look girlish or make the boys look "bubble headed".

My second wish is for wigs in 4/5 that don't have massive amounts of hair. They overwhelm tinies, especially those that are supposed to be toddlers.

 

I really want more distinct noses especially for women! I think an aquiline/hooked nose is absolutely gorgeous.

First of all, welcome to the hobby! I hope you have a good time here. But as for things that should exist but don't... where do I even begin...

• sculpts that look older than their mid-twenties
• heeled feet, heels, and 'feminine' clothing for boy bodies
• fitted formal suits for female bodies, shoes that aren't girly or ladylike for female dolls
• more racially diverse facial features (ie noses, lips, jawlines, overall bone structures, eyes)
• stronger facial features in general
• more variety in body sculpts, especially female bodies that are more stout, muscular and/or otherwise not supermodel-like
• yoSD fashion that isn't moe or babylike

 

Tiny BJDs with dark skin that's not a fantasy color. I love seeing Black and Hispanic dolls but there don't seem to be any that are childlike or on the small/tiny side (1/6 or 1/8). I've only seen dark skinned dolls in SD or bigger, and even then there aren't many of them!

 

More wigs with modern layered styling with hair lying flatter/following shape of head. Scaling down makes this difficult and the layering increases time to make and therefore cost though.

 

More colorful clothing for boys, especially 70cm+, more hooked noses, dolls with evil smirks (lol), chubby boys!!

 

More flexibility from the companies in providing spare parts, instead of full bodies.
A couple of default common skin colors would be nice too, maybe identified by pantone or other standards. So hybridizing would be more simple.
On second thought... the latter would expose the doll to several degrees of mellowing, as every company uses its own resin mixture.

 

I'm not sure if they exist...but I've always wanted a rotating music box stand.

 

More muscular 1/3 sized mermen!! The mermen I’ve seen are mostly slender or MSD sized!

 

Yes, but must come with a tail in proportion, ie no cop out short tails which are usually the length of human legs.... also perhaps a choice of tails, like a shark

(Many!) years ago a bjd artist made a 1/3 sized octo mer and it was absolutely stunning.

 

I think I would like more age variety. A elderly doll could be cool, and great for those of us who would like an older character in their photostories.
