What doll size do you consider most "fun" ?

Sep 29, 2013

    1. To everyone in this hobby, I am wondering, out of all the doll sizes you have/had which do you personally have more fun with?

I ask because I am having tha moment of just feeling "meh" about my current doll size. (A mini) actually, I have been feeling that way for some time about bjd's in general. So I am wondering, which doll size do you guys think of when you want to have fun, enjoy the hobby, take fun type of pics ( or even just dress them up and have around!). Not just "picture perfect scenery" or "background story related photo shoots" just randomly take the doll plop her somewhere and snap pics?

I have been contemplating littlefee's (tinies in general) and I am curious about everyone's point of view as to what size seems "fun"

    2. I'm so far enjoying my MSD size dolls so far c: They aren't too heavy for me so I like to just bring them around with me while I'm going about the house. Though I do really enjoy the tiny sizes. I have off topic tinies so far and I'm enjoying that size! (Plus you can take those with you in a purse or bag). Tinies are also easier to sew for so that's also a plus! I've bought a Pukifee so I'm looking forward to her c: But yes MSD and smaller is my favorite!

    3. i think minifee sounds great! my unoa has always been my go to girl for just fun photos! she has perfect posing and is just cute always, and not too heavy! my SD who is also one of my favourites, i find quite serious sometimes, he's beautiful but a little heavy for a tiny woman like me!

    4. All my dolls are fun. :D I have dolls of all sizes and I don't think one size is 'more fun' than any other. My preference is for MSD size dolls, but that has nothing to do with the fun factor. It's just the size that I find the most versatile.

    5. I have dolls from 16cm all the way up to a smashing 71cm! Anything smaller isn't very fun for me, and the easiest, thus most fun, dolls to play with are from 16 to 50cm for me. It's mostly because my hands aren't exactly what you'd consider strong and I'm tiny myself standing at an entire 151cm of height, so they're easier to handle. I love my SDs just as much and I find them stunning and wonderful but they don't offer the ease of play my minis do!

    6. Pukifee, because they're easier to find props for and you can carry them in your purse way easier than say a Yosd. Well unless you have a big purse... :)

    7. The most fun? Definitely tiny size (16cm); they're easy to travel with and it's really enjoyable to see the world from their tiny perspective. :) I have dolls of SD, MSD, and tiny size and I enjoy my tinies more by far and spend more time with them.

    8. I have a couple different sizes, but my favorite size will always be 60+. I drop my tinies (oops...) and I'm afraid of how small the one MSD I have is (like I'll lose him? Not sure!), but my SDs... I don't know, it's a 'safe' size to me. So I'll be daring with them sometimes, haha. In my experience the saying of 'the bigger they are, the harder they fall', taken literally, just isn't true with BJDs.

    9. I have everything from a 1/12-scale, dollhouse-sized Banji to a massive 70cm superhero-type EID over here, and honestly... there are good things and bad things about all of my various dolls' sizes. The smaller ones are easier to transport, easier to find props and toys for, take up less space and can be a lot of fun just to tinker around with... While the larger ones are a whole lot easier to sew for, are easier to find interesting clothes and wigs for, are more visually impressive to look at and are a much more "cuddle-friendly" size.

Which is "better", I think, entirely comes down to your own personal preferences and what you want to do with the doll. If you want to build miniatures, elaborate room boxes or dollhouses and need a fun and photogenic inhabitant for them, a Micro like a Puki or a Banji or a little Dream High goblin is a good way to go. If you want to have a small, adorable and child-doll just to play around with, it's hard to go wrong with a 1/6-scale Tiny, like a YoSD or a LittleFee. If you want a somewhat more versatile, older-looking doll that's still easy to handle and doesn't take up your entire desk, slim Minis are a good option. If you want to do very detailed sewing, a lot of scenic photography or just want a "companion doll" with a lot of physical presence, it's hard to beat the 1/3 SDs and larger.

    10. Tinies because anything anywhere is a photo opportunity with them. :)

    11. When I got my first dolls I automatically went to getting MSD's because they were a size I basically knew well from collecting other dolls and was very comfortable with. But now I have a couple of SD sized girl dolls and a boy I am in the process of assembling and I'm really getting into that size a lot more than I ever thought I would. I still like the MSD's too but there is something about that SD size that I am really having some fun with. I still like both but I'm gravitating a lot towards the SD dolls I think.

    12. For randomly plonking down on a location and taking photos, I enjoy SDs. They don't get eaten up by the scenery as much as smaller dolls and can sometimes have meaningful interaction with the environment e.g. stairs with SD can look like they're climbing those large amphithetre steps, but for MSDs or smaller, the scale would be more 'off'.

    13. I have more Large dolls than anything else, so I guess I must consider them the most fun. But I have dolls in all sizes.

    14. I love large dolls, like 58 +
but little ones are so cute

    15. I really enjoy smaller dolls. Pukifee ish sizes, but I can't wait to get an MSD sized doll to see how I like that. I tend to lean toward small dolls because of storage and because I like them to live in my dollhouse I have. I can't imagine I'll ever get a SD size. It just wouldn't be fun for me to have to store it or pay how much one costs, etc..

    16. So far I like the dolls that range from 25cm - 35cm. They are a great size for "playing" and much easier to store than the bigger dolls. :)

    17. I've had a chance to own or handle pretty much all the sizes, and I still consider the 60cm crowd to be the most fun. I love big dolls, but when it comes to taking them out they can be heavy and cumbersome, so I usually leave them at home. 60cm still meets my needs for having a big doll in my arms, but without being too huge to comfortably carry around. They also have the widest variety of clothing available out there, which makes it more fun to pick out detailed outfits and accessories. That being said, I still pine after getting another Puki, just because it would be fun to have something that I could carry around with me all the time!

    18. Yo-sd and MSD for me 8D Still love all my dolls though!

    19. I like SD best. They're easiest for me to pose, and not too big. But MSDs are a lot of fun too, still not hard to pose, and because they are about American Girl height, it's SO easy to find props and furniture for fun photoshoots!

I personally don't like tinies or YoSD size, I find them too small and hard to pose, handle or sew for, and they frustrate me more than I enjoy them. But that's just me!

    20. SD sized all the way! I love being able to sew for them and they are the perfect size to cuddle ^^ Though I guess I am biased since I have only ever sewn for a tiny once (Never again!) and I only have SD sized dolls...
