1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What happened to Muse Doll?

Jun 21, 2022

    1. Hi, I've been away from the hobby and DoA for a long time - years!
I was wondering what has happened to Muse Doll? Website seems dead.
I used to really like the clothes etc they made, have they closed down?

    2. I don't know about Muse Doll specifically, but it seems like the 2020 resurgence of the hobby of both new people coming in (like me! -waves hello-) and the return of people who had been part of the hobby but left for whatever reason, didn't come fast enough for some dollmakers/companies. I know some of the popular names were down to a few random in-stocks at some dealers by the time I bought my first few dolls.

BJDCollectasy is a good resource to see when a company last promoted a new doll or posted notice of last call for sales. But the news isn't all sad, there are so many new artists with fun dolls too!

    3. Unfortunately, as far as I'm aware, Musedoll shut down for whatever reason several years ago. So did Dream of Doll, though I don't think an official announcement was ever made, they just... stopped updating the website or replying to messages. A lot of somewhat smaller companies that were around when I first started into BJDs (2007, though I didn't get my first doll until 2009) ended up going out of business over the next ten years. I also haven't been terribly active for the last few years and am just now seriously getting back into the hobby for real so I don't know much about which companies went under over the last five years or so. I have a copy of The BJD Orbyrarium (from 2006) and it has a list at the beginning with all the prominent BJD companies at the time and their websites... at least half of them no longer exist. It's sad, but at least some of the old dolls still show up secondhand every once in a while...

    4. Ah darn, that’s a shame! I suspected the worst but wasn’t sure.
I’ve not some across BjDcollectasy - I will have a look, thanks!
