1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What happened to the yearly challenges and triathlon?

Aug 20, 2025

    1. I remember there used to be yearly challenges around this time. But they haven’t happened since Corona.
Any reasons why and is there a possibility to being them back?

    2. I've been wondering the same thing, the triathlon was so much fun!

    3. Been wondering this too. I used to do as many events as I could

    4. Since the general forum membership wouldn't know the answer...

We stopped holding events when Covid hit. We did not think it was right to ask for prizes and donations when people were dealing with illness, businesses were struggling and shipping was in chaos.

Since then, it's been a matter of not having enough staff to run the forum, let alone events.

Only senior staff members can handle certain tasks. Most of the senior staff that ran events in the past are either retired or out of commission with real life events taking their time. I think I'm the only truly active senior staff member at the moment and I sure don't have the bandwidth to helm an event and that'll be true for the foreseeable future.

The dwindling of staff over time is a problem in general. We lose staff and with that skill sets.
The last time we opened new staff applications, nobody applied.
If we can't bring on new team members, the staff issue won't get resolved, etc. etc.

    5. Thank you for your reply! That clarifies a lot

    6. This clarifies a lot about a lot! Do you mind my asking (and please know I'm just asking out of the curiosity of a long-time member): are there any plans to take moderator applications again? If I remember correctly, it's been a few years since they were last open. New staff can't replace senior staffs' skill sets overnight, but you might get a different response now. The hobby sure has expanded with all kinds of new folks in the last few years! And people are in very different places than they might have been then.

    7. I wouldn't be opposed to throwing my hat in the ring to be a staff member if you need more. I didn't realize there were sign ups because I went MIA from here for a bit due to some RL circumstances that didn't allow me to devote time to the forum, let alone my dolls. But I've since moved and actually have a dedicated office now (still putting it together, but it's a start). So I wouldn't mind helping out, even on a part time basis.

    8. I actually went to find the mod application form a while back but I found that it had disappeared. :sorry

    9. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I have a faint remembrance of minimum requirements for new staff being quite high, like, having a 1000+ post count and so on. I dunno, but maybe it could be worthwhile thinking about what's A) really necessary, like conditione sine qua non-necessary and B) realistic, given how the forum works out these days, with a lot less active members/ threads/ posts generally.

But I know, not my business, and no one asked for opinions about that. It's just I've been here since 2004 and I guess I do care if things aren't well.

    10. Actually this does ring a bell, because I had clicked on the application form at one point when it was available, and I think I didn't meet the post requirements at the time (I probably still don't, but I'd still like to try applying).

    11. I also would apply! I was still in school when moderator applications went out, and I couldn’t guarantee I’d have the time after I graduated, but now that I’m in the working world, and I see how much downtime an office job has, I’d love to join the team (and I meet the post count!)

    12. My response to the OP was not intended to steer this thread toward discussions about the reasons and methods of adding new staff members. I simply aimed to clarify why we are no longer hosting events, and I felt it was important to highlight the issue of our decreasing staff levels.

There are additional factors involved that I am unable to discuss at this time, so I believe that continuing the conversation here might not be fully informed or productive.

With that in mind, I will be closing the thread shortly. Thank you for understanding~
