Whats in YOUR doll carrier?

Jan 3, 2007

    1. So I was wondering, What are the bare necessities for going places with your dolls?

Here is my list of stuff I keep in my carrier (not that I have a doll yet..):

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser - To clean my dolls with incase they get scuffed
Empty zip top plastic bags - Good to keep things safe in or putting snacks in!
Hair ties (doll & human sized) - Never know when you may need to re style hair or keep things together
Wig oil & Wig wax - A cure for bag hair!
Blanket - Keeps your dolls bums off the tables!
Photo ID - Incase you get arrested for looking like your mentally ill ...
Cell Phone - For ....calling people?
Wig brush - Nobody likes messy hair
Camera & Camera accessories - For taking pictures

What would you recommend other people should take with them to meet ups?

    2. i just have a hair brush and sometimes a magic eraser if i remember. and some extra camera batteries.

    3. Volks cleaning sponge (although...I recall evildolly and Djinn being horrified at the battered state of mine...they might be relieved to hear that I've changed it for a new piece, now. XD; ) - Extremely important! You never know when your doll will pick up a random bit of grime...and if it's on the face it will look terrible in all the group photos. O_O

Volks hook puller tool - in case an S-hook comes loose (putting it back with your fingers, depending on the doll's tightness, can be a real exercise in pain...) or I need to change their clothes.

Camera and batteries. These first three things are a must.

If I'm bringing a doll with long hair, I'd also bring Volks Sarari spray (anti-static and keeps long wigs silky smooth) and a wooden brush I got with my FCS (it doesn't catch on hairs, unlike some combs).

If I'm bringing a doll with short fibre hair, I'd also bring Volks conditioning spray (for temporary styling fixes and to fight flyaways).
The best wigs for moving about are short mohair and fur wigs...they don't need any styling aids at all!

Finally, if I have the time, I usually toss some miniature snacks, books, or toys into the bag...to entertain my doll(s) if they have no one to play or talk with at the meet. ^_^

      Cute thread idea, Manami!

    4. What's (usually) in my bag:

      Mr. Clean Magic Eraser
      doll brush
(my boys wear fur wigs, but they do get mussed up during travel and the brush is a lot faster than trying to finger-comb it into style)
extra clothing items (hats, scarves, accessories, sometimes a couple of different shirts depending on where I'm taking them and how long we're going to be there)
digital camera (+extra batteries and, depending on the trip, USB connector cord)
cat plushie (because Luka will pout if he doesn't have his cat. no lie.)
blankets and pillows for padding (I just leave them in the carrier most of the time, since the boys are bookshelf/desk dwellers at home)

I think that's about it, really. Sometimes I'll toss extra things in depending on where I'm taking them and who will be there. If I know someone will really want to see a new accessory I got, etc. But most of the time it's just the basics. ^^

ETA: As some people have mentioned, I also tend to toss my wallet/keys/miscellaneous "purse stuff" into a carrier pocket when I take the boys out. It's just easier than carrying two bags around, especially since my "purse" is a messenger bag! *_*

    5. - One of the pillows Aster came with, for extra padding
      - wide toothed comb. Because dear god, Radriel's hair gets everywhere.
      - bunny plushie. For Arioc. xD;
      - tiny hair ties. Works for both my hair and for Radriel's crazy hair. o3o
      - wallet/cellphone/keys. Because I'm too small to carry their bag and a purse.
      - tissues, because I haven't gotten around to sticking a cleaning sponge in there.

    6. Besides the dolls and their pillows/quilts for travelling?

Spare wigs, shoes, clothes, and a ribbon for re-stringing.

Often a project of doll clothes for me to work on.

And the camera, batteries, etc. mentioned earlier in the thread.

      Ann in CT

    7. Oh yeah, I need to buy a small pack of tissues and a wig comb.

There are a few things I need to stick in there that I will add to my first post

    8. A bunch of extra batteries
      wig spray and a brush
      extra wigs
      extra eyes
Siorei's bag of hands( he's a Dollti, so they come with a set of 7 hands)
Trying to remember to pack all 6 into the bag
      Magic eraser
      extra eye putty
      camera

    9. Generally...

      - Orly (sometimes, other times I'm carrying him in my arms)
      - One or two pillows that the carrier came with
      - A Pullip... or two or three... (four right now because I brought two home for the break and ended up with two more before the month was over >.> )
      - Spare wigs (just two but they're in there)
      - An ID tag (in case it gets lost ;_; )
      - Spare clothes (since I don't have many these don't take up much space)
      - Maybe my digital camera (depends on whether or not I'm carrying Orly himself)

    10. air and imaginaryness. Carrier? bah! that would make too much sense...:|

    11. For a doll meetup the restringing kit gets packed along with at least one comb. For an overnight stay at a con, clothes get added to the list as well.

    12. In our courier bag at the moment we've got...

      - Extra batteries for my camera
      - Extra memory cards for my camera
      - Wig brush
      - Magic sponge
      - Clear rubber bands for holding things
      - Rolled up matt for sitting the guys on
      - Long piece of white fabric for wrapping long wigs
      - Harumatsu's "dog tag", with his name and my contact information on it
      - One of the guys' folding fans

... and there's usually at least one fluff beast in there somewhere, along with my camera, one or two of the guys, and occasionally a stray fox pup or pet cat. ^_^

    13. When I actually bring a doll carrier, it usually holds...
-a comb for Dorian / brush for Imari
      -camera, extra batteries, charger
      -a few outfits and shoes
      -lotsa extra eyes
-all my junk (keys, wallet, cell phone, etc.)
-depending of how far I'm going, a manga or two to read on the way home.

Really, the only thing that doesn't go in my doll bag is... well... my dolls. I generally tote them in my arms.

      Fun thread, btw. ;)

    14. Thankies! I made it because I'm trying to figure out what else I need to buy for my Umeko when she gets here.

    15. All I carry is my camera, their hairbrush, and a pillow. I'm simple.

    16. In my Bag:

      -Magic Eraser
-Comb (or if I didn't bring one, finger combing it is *_*)
      -Occasionally different wigs
-Things I want to sell or trade
-Camera, batteries and memory card (though these all have their own bag)
-Any vital accessories (ex: Raleigh's lamb plush)

      For conventions additionally I bring:
-Change of clothes, shoes and wig for each doll

    17. Superglue! I would hate accidental damage to ruin a meet, and with Corpselight's ears (see avatar) you have to be prepared for the worst

    18. Gosh, TONS of stuff. x_X

Stringing tools, because Oboro and I are usually the designated "re-stringers" at meetups...
Faceup materials, for the same reason as above.
Extra clothes, either to change into, or stashed in there when we acquire new things :P
      Blankets/pillows for the dolls >w<
Mr Clean Erasers, if I have any handy x_x
Random props sometimes, as well as snacks, batteries, coupons, whatever I manage to acquire while out with the dolls. x_x

All that and lots of stupidly heavy resin kids ;) Good thing I've got two big bags... <3

    19. face-protectors--the clear plastic kind (mine has ties to keep them on) are THE most important things. Protects their faceups from getting knocked or rubbed while in the carrier. I usually carry two big dolls at a time and usually don't have much space for pillows... the face protectors keep the most delicate thing safe!

Since my dolls are jammed in there, I usually can't put much in the pockets provided... I never think about things like Mr Clean Erasers or hair brushes.

camera and extra cards and batteries and all that are in a separate case.

accessories--I usually have to carry these in a separate bag... like the angel wings my dolls wore at the last meetup... Or hats and feathers that are easily crush-able, they can't be packed in the tight carrier, either.

Everything is heavy enough... so I usually only have the carrier and the dolls ONLY... with camera stuff and any accessories separate... and no room for anything else! *_*

    20. I now use roll cases (for holding knitting yarn and needles) to hold my dolls for meetups, and they're too small to hold much more than a doll and his various weapons and hairpins. But for conventions, I have a larger carrier (intended for carrying wine bottles - it even has little seatbelts) that ends up full of junk. At the moment, I have...

      a hairbrush
a roll of duct tape - for securing wigs... hey, it works great!
a furoshiki - wrapping cloth to roll the doll in
a packet of baby wipes - I honestly have no idea, but there they are...
black paint - for touching up scuffed eyebrows
scalpel - doubles as a paintbrush!
      a chunk of magic eraser
self-adhesive bandage tape - for securing kimono so they don't ride up.
one of those mini sewing kits from a convinience store
a few short pieces of stiff wire - to jam inside dolly joints so they can hold unusual poses for photos.
