    1. Hiya! So, I ordered my first BJD Ayden (Rinley Impldoll model) and I have researched that Impldoll send their dolls with a doll bag instead of a box.

Initially, I preferred the idea of having my doll inside a nice box because it is more classical and it looks awesome. However, lately I've changed my mind. I think it is actually awesome that Ayden will come in a doll bag because then it saves me from buying one as I will be taking him around with me a lot but what about the rest of you?

      Box or BJD bag?

    2. I prefer to have him or her in a box. It's more secure for shipping and easier to store.

    3. Both have their good aspects, but I prefer boxes I think. I had a couple of dolls come with bags, which was great for travel and now I don't have to buy a bag. But boxes work better for shipping protection and I plan on moving in the future, so packing them up in boxes versus bags is safer for them. Boxes do take up alot of room tho!

    4. I didn't know any companies delivered in a bag, are they like the luggage-looking carry bags? It seems practical, I suppose, for people inclined to take them out and about but not everyone would be the carrying sort. Box seems like a more standard and overall useful way to store them, I'd definitely be keeping my dolls stored in a box more than carrying them in a bag.

    5. I'm not sure about other companies but Impldoll does it and from googling the pictures of bags. They are slim, long, black bags and there are straps that go across your doll on the inside to make sure your doll is secure and will not move.

    6. I definitely think a box is better... Although it'd be convenient to have a free carrier bag included with the doll, boxes are more secure and better if you need to store the doll... Plus I like the look of doll boxes. I've got a wide, short bookcase that has my 2 mini boxes stacked on the bottom shelf and it's nice to have them right there in my room. If I needed a carrier bag I'd just have to go buy one.

My newest girl didn't come with an inner box, she was just packed directly in the shipper, and it kinda sucks because if i need to store her for a little bit I have to go put her back in that...

    7. Boxes just seem more secure, when it comes to shipping...but that said, I don't think I've heard many complaints about damaged dolls arriving in bags. And on that note, dolls shipped in boxes do still arrive damaged from time to time. I've never received a doll in a bag, but I can see where it would be preferable. You wouldn't have to worry about buying a carrier separately, or about doll boxes stacking up and taking up space in your closet.

    8. Box, definitely. I had a bag once and never used it. Although, I do wish that all the boxes came with the shaped foam inserts to hold the doll in place. I like those best, seems safest.

    9. I prefer boxes due to looks and the safe storage aspect, plus my doll won't be leaving the house much so I don't have much use for a bag. But I can see the merits of having a doll arrive in a bag instead.

    10. Gotta say im a box fan, all though I think my dad would prefer bags with the amount of space ive taken in the attic lol.

    11. Box. From the boxes I've had, that's just safer and more sturdy. A bag IN a box is cool. The Soom dolls I had and my Volks Ryoma came in zippered pillow bags inside a doll box.

    12. I've had dolls come both ways, but I prefer the bags because I can use them to carry dolls to meets and such later. I do keep all my boxes too, but I don't really use them for anything. Also, all the dolls I've received packed in a bag were still inside an outer shipping box for mailing, so that shouldn't be a worry. ^_^

    13. Bobobie, a company I love, sends their dolls in pillow body bags inside of boxes and I love them. They're so useful and I wish every doll came with one!

    14. Glad you said it lol. I was beginning to think everyone thought that they just shipped them in a bag and no outer box.

I love that IMPL sent my Dorisy in a bag. It's actually a pretty nice bag. I used it to take one of my other girls to a doll meetup at an anime convention last weekend. She was a little taller so I had to bend her knees, still no damage. After the meetup was over I carried the bag around the convention until it was cool enough to leave in my truck. The shoulder strap made it pretty comfortable to carry around.

As for another company that sends their dolls in bags is resinsoul (if ordered direct from Resinsoul). They're little brown faux leather cases. Nothing too fancy but they're not bad for free.

Boxes are nice too...so I guess I'm sort of indifferent lol.

    15. For the people suggesting that a box is more secure, I'd mention that there's generally (for the bagged dolls that I've received, at least), a good layer of padding between the shipping box and the doll bag, so I don't really consider them to be any less (or more) secure than a box with the equivalent amount of material between the shipping and inner boxes.

    16. It depends... Bags are useful, but some are better than others. I have a mini Impl bag, but I don't use it that often since it only holds one doll, maybe two if a squish. I usually like bigger bags that will hold more.

I have a lot of dolls now and I don't think I would have wanted 30 or more bags sitting around!

On the other hand, I guess you could sell them or give them as gifts, since someone might want them...

But if you sell the doll, the boxes are good to have for shipping and proving that they are not fake dolls.

    17. I usually prefer boxes, since they seem more sturdy and I don't trust the people around here to be gentle with them(My mom used to work for the post office and says the sorters aren't particularly careful with any of the packages, not even the ones marked "fragile"). Otherwise, it would have to be a pretty heavily wrapped doll if they came in a bag.

    18. I prefer for shipping the box, I think the bag isn't very save thing for the Doll to ship around the World. the pack can get fallen down even their may be carefully with it and some part could get broken. It also scared me to see box openings with bags, I just sometimes think, wow that doll have actually luck not to have broken parts. ;)

    19. Neither. I couldn't care less about company boxes or the bags that they make to put the dolls in. I use yoga mat bags that I've lined in light colored fleece to store my dolls in. The yoga mat bags are about the right size, they're easily portable, and I like them. Bubble to ship and a plain brown box is fine by me so long as there's more than enough of it to make sure there is no damage. I used to keep boxes. I just don't anymore. I need the room for the dolls. Boxes take up way too much space and so far every time I've gotten a new doll in a company box it's smelled so much of new resin that I just couldn't see keeping it anyway. The sleeping bags I've washed and kept but the boxes they just ended up in the trash they smelled so bad. I don't much like that new resin doll smell. Money issues aside, that's one of the reasons I prefer used dolls. By the time they get to me I don't have to worry too much about that. The 2 times I actually got new dolls I ended up with a migraine just from opening the box!
