1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Where are they now?

Jul 9, 2013

    1. This is one of those things that's been on my mind recently... I took a break from the hobby for a while, just recently returning, and since then I've wondered about the dolls/heads I sold before leaving, as well as the other heads from custom manufacturing orders I ran or participated in. I've tracked down one of the heads, at least, but that's one out of 27 (not counting the ones I've kept) among all the orders. I haven't tried tracking down the full doll I sold, and I'd probably never find the faceplate! But I still find myself wondering, especially with those heads, just what ended up happening to them. Are they in a box somewhere, forgotten? Did they get completed? How many have been resold, and how many are still with their original owners?

For those of you who have sold or run/participated in group orders, do you ever wonder what's become of the sales in the past? Do you wonder what will be done with the dolls in current or recent orders or sales? Or are they more of an "out of sight, out of mind" thing to you?

    2. I've only sold one doll so far and I haven't really considered what the owner might have done to him. It was a DiM Arno if I don't remember wrong. Cute face, but didn't do much for me sadly. I do hope his new owner got more happiness out of him :)

    3. Well I did follow-up on those I sold. I've sold 2 little sweethearts. One came to a home and was very costumized and used but sold after 2 month were I lost the track of the doll. I could probably find the new owner but I just don't feel like stalking a doll around. :sweat
The other one was sold to a wonderful lady which still has the doll. I feel really confident about that sale and I'm sure the dollie is loved there.

After the first doll that was sold I feel really unsure about selling dolls. I just don't like the doll to be shipped back and forth over the world without finding a place to "stay". It is a bit silly of me, the dolls doesn't have feelings so they can't get hurt, but they can get damaged during the process.

    4. I usually don't think about what becomes of a doll after I've sold it. However, I have sold several to friends, so I regularly get to check in on how s/he's doing! I did trade a head to somebody a couple of years ago, and at the one year mark, she sent me a picture of the doll, now completed and it was so cool! I'd never done anything with the head except give it a faceup, but the new owner made her look really cute. I was happy to see that she was being loved now.

    5. Twice I've seen dolls I've sold for sale again, but it didn't bother me very much... It just means they haven't found the right loving home yet, but they're getting another chance by being sold again.

    6. I've sold a fair few dolls over the years... Some are still with the people who originally bought them, others have moved on. I don't really keep close track of them after they leave my collection, but it's fun to see one or another pop up in the gallery or in a company thread occasionally.

    7. I've sold a few of my dolls in the past and I normally don't really think much on tracking them to see what their new owners have done, but two of them I sold were damaged and I knew the new owners were planning on fixing them up and modding them a bit. It was pretty fun seeing the work they put into them and what the final product was of it all.

    8. I was actually just wondering about this a couple of days ago. I am now at the point where I have sold more dolls than I currently have! For the most part I have no idea what happened to any of them. The people I sold the dolls to are generally not extremely active in their posting of pictures that I know of. I do know that the MSD Ken I sold got modded into a Mika... 0.o! After those initial mod photos of her finished and dressed up I didn't really follow the new owner. But... sometimes I wonder :D I do have one friend I sold a doll to... I do know she pretty much still lives in the box and never comes out, poor thing.

I don't regret selling the ones I no longer have, time is always a problem for me and I really only have time for a couple of them anymore. I hope my past dollies are bringing new people happiness as they brought me. :D

    9. I don't think about where they are. I've only sold one tiny and a head since joining the hobby, and though I did feel a little sad at first, I knew that wherever they went they would be more appreciated than sitting in a box in my room when I had no motivation to work on them. I was only sad because I wanted to bond with them so badly, but couldn't. If the person I sold the doll to doesn't bond either, I totally understand. A good handful of my dolls went through several homes before finally finding their forever home with me, and that's okay. The dolls I have with me are ones that I plan to keep forever and are very well taken care of, and that's all that matters to me :)

    10. I haven't actually sold a doll but I have bought a head who has been through two previous owners. The first apparently sold him soon after he arrived even though they waited nearly a year for him. The second owner sold him to me and he has a gorgeous face up by a well known artist. I have got him a wig and I'm waiting for his new body and cloths to arrive. I think he is gorgeous and feel like he was really meant for me. I have kinda done a reverse form of doll stalking as he is a uncommon sculpt and I found pictures of my exact doll in a google search. I don't know if I could sell one but if I did I think it would be fun to know what their new owner has done with them.

    11. I'm contacts with a few folks who have my dolls on Flickr, but that's about it. I've re-homed so many over the years, I sometimes forget I even owned a doll, so I can't even recall where they went.
