1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. Hello! :)

I was wondering, do people start buying clothes, shoes, blankets, etc. for their dolls before they actually buy the dolls them selves?

I'm starting to stockpile fabrics, Lace, Doll blankets, and now outfits for dolls I havent even bought yet! :?

I've read storys of people buying dolls then not having clothes for them and have the dolls running around the house naked, but I havent heard of people with piles of clothes before the dolls.

More or less I want to know if im crazy or not lmao!

    2. With my first I just impulsively bought the doll and then later realized he'd be naked. But now I tend to keep spare clothes around...

    3. Well, it's been a mix, but usually both at the same time. With Lewis I bought clothes and him at the same time, same with Jacques, but I bought a hoodie for my MNF way before I got him ordered :B and I'm glad I did because there were no shirts in stock for MNF when I ordered haha TDT

    4. 'Same time, here. I really didn't want Harumatsu to be bare or stuck with a dish-towel toga when he arrived.

It just doesn't seem right to me to order something as nice as a new doll without also having the necessary wig, eyes, and at least one set of clothes picked for them, too... ^_^

    5. Well, with Coal it was totally and impulse of "perfect doll, buy now!" followed by "crap, naked!" with me sewing him a quick kimono so he'd have something for when he came. So really, it was doll first then clothes, but he did get something to wear in the end.

    6. Doll clothes first. In fact, I have to sell off some stuff because they do not fit the doll I have coming in. Stuff I bought months in advance. @_@

    7. HAHHAHAAAAA!! Totally awesome! Thats how it was for me but I cant buy her yet. Waiting for Dolpa 16 :sweat Thus my new found habits of hoarding fabric and clothes

Heh I was a bit worried about that but I assume all volks clothes are made to a certain standard, and blankets will fit most any doll...

    8. My first boy arrived nekkid and I went crazy getting him clothes. XD

But, he was also somewhat of an impulse buy -- I wasn't planning on having him yet, so I wasn't really "ready" for him. My new boy who is on his way has several articles of clothing that are "his" already, plus I'll share clothes between them. So I sort of did both. :sweat

    9. We bought dolls. Raiko's still naked and Elgyn's in barbie jeans. >.O We really suck a bit as doll parents I think. lol Rose's working on some clothes though. We're not big buyers on the clothes front, more in to making them ourselves. So... it's a little different for us I guess.

    10. Sadly, I'm the same; I buy the doll first. I am trying to change, though, and one of my New Year's resolutions is to build up my existing family's wardrobes. Right now, Mikel's in a black trench he stole from Laurent, and his default shorts and socks lol He looks like a pint-sized stripper! I'm going to concentrate on their clothes more, though, and I have my mom in the habit of buying my presents from Volks, so that helps! :p

    11. I guess I'm kind of both.

My first doll was supposed to be a Dollstown Triste. As soon as I decided to save for her, I started stockpiling on clothes. To this date, I have everything except a wig - but no Triste! As it turned out, I had some really wonderful chances to buy some limiteds I really wanted, but had not expected to get. As they were all either the wrong size or gender or just style for the clothes meant for Triste, they all ended up coming home with nothing to wear!

Now I just don't bother buying clothes unless I have already ordered the doll, since I never know what will come up. @_@

    12. I know what you mean! I keep changing my mind on which dolls I want.

+shakes her fist angrily at the new Volks LE Kurumi  +

I'm really really hoping one of my dolls will have the same taste in clothes as I do. I love the new h.NAOTO collaboration cloths from Volks and I LOVE the BabySSB ones!

    13. Clothes first. I wanted to have something for the long wait XD
The first things I bought were shoes.

    14. Dolls first.... because I thought it would be sooo easy to sew clothes for them...silly me ^^;;

    15. With my first doll, Ciel, I bought clothes for him a few days later after I ordered him, so they arrived before he did. However, with Colette, I already had several pieces of clothing for a slim/mature 43cm girl, so she's always had plenty of clothes to wear.

    16. I had my doll a good 8 months before she had any clothes. ^^*

    17. I bought the doll first, and no clothes, thinking I could use the hoard of fabric I had lying around to whip up some clothes myself..it was a lot harder than I thought it would be, though.

    18. Bought my boy first partly cos I've read that since DZ boys tend to be more slender and taller than their counterparts, that stock clothes sometimes can be a hit and miss; and also partly cos I'm slightly ecchi and don't mind him nekkid around the house. :sweat

I've also got a stockpile of fabric since I make clothes for my Blythe dolls, so I've been making some basic pants for him - am waiting for a clothing shipment from Dollmore now though!

    19. Doll first. When I got my first doll, doll clothes were NOT easy to come by, so I had to have the doll first so I could make her clothes!

Even now, I generally don't make clothes in advance of the doll. It's only when they're here that I get a good sense of what they should wear, and part of how I make a doll mine is sewing an outfit specifically for each one.

      Marcia.

    20. Well if you want to get really technical, the fabric for the clothes was bought a long long time ago and was part of a stock pile I'd had... however actually buying pre-made clothing for my doll came after I'd bought my doll. Just recently even as I finally broke down and bought some instead of making them.
