1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Which of the tiny bjd do you consider the most realistic looking?

Jun 22, 2007

    1. I can't find a thread on this, so I hope it's not a repeat. I was just thinking...before I didn't like BJD's (maaany years ago) I thought most of them looked pretty strange...now that I love them, I think most of them look pretty wonderful and only a few are really strange. I wanted to ask...which tiny bjd looks the most 'real' to you? Ones you own or others that you see? (Any pics?) Do you prefer more realistic bjds or do you prefer the more stylized ones?

    2. Hmmm - good question.

I guess my tinies are mostly unrealistic with maybe the most realistic I own being Elfdoll Min Del Re, Limhwa ToYou, and Bambicrony.

I think some of the larger tinies are more realistic - Little Junior, Narsha, Petite Ai, and maybe Serendipity Lovely Freyja for example. I think Pandora/Miriam are also on the realistic side as well as Domuya Potpourri, and some of the YoSD's. Of the smaller tinies, the most realistic I can think of are the Monnaemi sisters - Min, Jin, and Bong.

In a world where elves exist, my BC might be realistic!

    3. I don't know of any tinies that look super realistic but as has already been said some of the larger ones are more 'human' in appearance rather than 'dollie'....i did think the fabulous little tinies by SecretDoll had a certain 'human' quality to them though.

    4. I'm new to tinys, but from what I've seen so far, I think that Petite ai Gabriel has more of a realistic looking face.

    5. I think that Elfdoll's Hana looks really realistic, at least in the face. The body that Hana came with was a bit odly proportioned, but the newer body used for Doona has much better proportions.

    6. I think Banji is the most "realistic" of the tinies.

And well, considering the continuum of anime to realistic, I think the Domadoll tinies are rather realistic too... though I may have been into BJD for too long now to be sufficiently objective! XD

    7. That's exactly how I feel...that I don't have much objectivity left in this BJD world, I am completely won over...so it's great to hear other people's opinions!

    8. Any suggestions? Since I can't buy or sell in the Marketplace due to not enough posts, does anyone know of any FS or what manufacturers have them?

      Thanks!

There is a new forum that has very relaxed rules and ideas about advertising your personal sales, etc. They have fun contests for free bjd stuff and actual dolls. They just gave away a full size SD13 BJD, and if you'd like to join, go here:

      http://www.bjd illusions.com

Since DOA has filters for this URL and changes it so it can't be used, when you paste it to your browser, do NOT put a space between bjd & Illusions.

    9. I think Min Del Rae looks like she's alive!

    11. The new Elfdoll Doona Soah looks pretty realistic to me. Something about her default and sleeping faceplates (ignores the smile... actually that one is quite cute too xD). Very life like.

    12. this stopped me dead in my tracks
I have a dreadful cold break ,and was off to bed when I saw this

of all the tinys I have ...I would have to go with the Hana Devil and Angel
they are like tiny children ...amazing little things

    13. Definitely have to agree. The "New" ED tinies are definitely more realistic in terms of proportion and expressions ^__^

And on a O/T note: Get well soon, tinybear ~

    14. I have Hana Devil and she has been the most wonderful to photograph. She comes alive and puts all the others in the shade, but that doesn't mean I don't still love the others, I do. I also have Cutie Delf Mary, but she doesn't have the same quality for me.

    15. Wow, you guys aren't kidding about Hana's expression. I'm not sure why, but she does look realistic. I wonder if its the face plates or the face up?

    16. I partly think its due to the proportions. Her eyes are not 1/2 of her head. But yeah, Rainman = Genius.

The sculpt reveals very close observation of human facial musculature and anatomy. Very very lifelike. But still, just that bit stylised enough to make it really nice :D

The fact that they can have different expressions, via faceplates, doesn't hurt either.

    17. Totally agree with you. I love the child like features so clearly defined in each expression. I catch myself wondering if she is mad or sad as the longer I look at her, the more aware I am that she could easily be doing either. Sleeping, she is an angel. Having initially called her Veruka, as in the snotty nosed character from Charlie and the Chocolate factory, to now calling her Verity, meaning truth. I have been captivated by her. She was my 50th birthday gift to myself and I have not regretted getting her for one moment. I must take new photos with her ner hairstyle, too. I found the perfect wig for her as Verity. Black bob with fringe/bangs, from Poshdolls also used for Pocket Fairy, I believe.

Before getting her, I thought Serendipity Cumi (5" tiny) had that special quality, but now she looks more cartoonish in comparison to Hana. I think my tastes have changed, too, though I wouldn't sell her as she was a very special gift from my beloved hubby. The only BJD he's ever bought me! Such a precious girl with that history. Little Penny is staying along with all the other tinies. I couldn't part with any of them. They all have something special. http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=11638035&uid=4573026 Cumi, Lilica and Lati White story. Shows the comparison between them.

I also think the Lilica face is another natural sculpt, also by Rainman, I believe, though her hands are strange and her body just a tad on the small side. She is the best to pose and most easily taken in your pocket or handbag/purse. A very good travel doll and utterly adorable. http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=10851325&uid=4573026 Poppet's story showing how well she poses.

    18. Oh, I love Hana too - the face plates are amazing!

(but then again, I love them all :-( )

      Hugs

    19. I think all the tinies I own are rather realistic, especially my BambiCrony Sisley. I think it's that their eyes are smaller than those of other tinies and they all have rather defined noses and lips.

    20. Keladry, hope you don't mind me interrupting here, but which Domadoll face is this? It is darling!
