Why do you choose white skin dolls?

Jun 27, 2014

    1. Just really curious about why some choose white skin over normal. Is it because you like the look? The character is whiter than normal, if you choose the doll for the character? Or if it's because that was the only way to get the doll?

Me, I have some WS dolls due to the character being a vampire, or the doll was being sold and I loved it so I bought it. One was sold as either grey or white and I chose white. A couple was because they're animals, so a white polarbear and kitty made sense.

    2. Personally I just love the look of white dolls. It also could be because I am white as snow myself (under all the freckles lol) so I feel "connected" to my paler skinned girl. :)

    3. I just get them for my paler characters, nothing more complicated than that. Though in one case, my Volks SDGr Kaelin, that's just the only colour the doll came in. (SDGr Irvin is the same sculpt in the ebony skintone, but he tends to be even more expensive.)

    4. It's easier to paint/blush a light color darker than trying to make a darker colored doll lighter. This doesn't take paint chipping or wear and tear into account, but I'll probably do it again anyway unless I find an exact color that i want for something.

    5. I like the delicate feeling I get from ws dolls. I find them to be especially pretty.

    6. I just really love the look of WS dolls. I do have a few very pale characters. But I also tend to lean towards the dark/ gothic type of styles so the WS dolls make sense for that kind of look.

    7. I mostly choose white for my fantasy dolls--elves, vampires, demons, etc.

Most of my humans are ns or tanned, but I do have a few ws humans. They just reflect the huge spectrum of human skin-tones, to me! I have dark and light tanned humans, so why not white?

    8. I'm not even really sure. I think for my first doll I wanted something that seemed a little different from normal so I went with WS. As someone else said it makes them look delicate and pretty.

    9. i always had a love for paler skin. myself i do insane things to keep myself pale lol i never go outside without sunblock and i more or less never go outside unless i need to. i just always found pale skin more attractive.

    10. The only one White skin doll I own had to shell a premade character, a white anthro cat girl, so it was an obligate, character-wise choice. I wanted also my Mian Mian (the doll in my avatar) to be white, but that color option was unavailable at the time so I choose Cream. He was also available in natural skin, but I preferred cream because I wanted him in a color that mimicked fur.
In my currently wishlist I have only another doll in white skin, a Dollmore Freddy-1, and it's because his character has to be dead. But I'm not really sure about ws, I have to confess. I think it can be a bit too much.

    11. Sometimes I choose WS over NS to suit my characters. When it's Asian characters, I prefer to choose Normal Yellow skin and for Western, Normal Pink skin or Normal White (not paper white :)). So paper white is for my vampires, kitsune (fox monster) or other fantasy characters.

    12. Most of my dolls have white skin because they are not human. Most are fae folk or related to that. I'd like to think that the paper white represents their skin having a faint glow.
I used to have a lot of normal skin dolls, but I ended up either selling them or trading them for a white skin version. To me the normal skin has a lot more potential to be a color or hue I don't like, while white doesn't have too many variations.
The same goes for tan. I had a tan Limhwa once and it was pretty much orange. I'd like a tan doll, but I'm picky when it comes to colors.
So white works but white is also easy.

    13. I prefer white skin, if available, because the doll looks more mysterious and unearthly... the thought of dolls being like angels or spirits comforts me somehow... BTW also grey and other surreal colors appeal to me :)

    14. I prefer whiteskin over normal skin because white skin dolls tend to look more ethereal and I like how colours contrast against the WS skin! :-)

    15. I have a handful of white skin dolls, most of mine are normal yellow skin I admit. The times where I do get white skin dolls are if the character requires them - such as the two albino dolls I have, some of my more fantasyish dolls are pale enough for it, one of them is a vampire, another is a white unicorn, so any colour other than pale white would have been completely off

    16. My skin color choices are generally made based on character requirements, which means they're all over the place. I have varying shades of tan skin, peach skins, white skins, gray skin, one doll that I'm trying to dye black-as-black-can-be (I emphasize the trying, since she's also a mix of three different companies resin, so they're not all accepting the dye the same), etc. But I do tend to prefer the darker skin tones, personally. I wish there were more of them available on the market, and in more varying shades. A relatively small proportion of my collection is white skin dolls, varying shades of peach skin make up the bulk of it just because that's what is most readily available, and I have a few very treasured tan dolls.

    17. For me it's much like Kiyakotari - character requirements. I only have one doll at the moment and she is Dollzone white skin, but the doll I am currently saving for will be Iplehouse Ebony! The character I bought my girl to shell is blonde and very pale skinned. DZ White is a nice cream colour rather than paper white, and perhaps a bit lighter than needed, but neither their yellow or pink resin appealed for her so white it is :)

    18. I got my first doll from dream of doll, they did not give a choice of resin colour, and my boy is still as beautiful and pale as he was. It was a lovely ethereal skin tone. Really beautiful!

I got another doll, this time from Luts, in white skin because his character was supposed to be albino. He has yellowed severely as most luts dolls have. He is quite buttery coloured now. I don't know if I would get white skin over normal skin unless the company has a good track record of not going really yellow. I don't mind a little yellowing but I don't want more of my dolls to get that buttery yellow

    19. I love white skin dolls, and have more of them than I have any other skin tone. I find that white skin really lets things like hair, eyes, face-up and outfits shine. I also think that it does make characters seem more ethereal, but all my white skin dolls are human (well... at least as human as my NS, tan and grey skin characters, at least :XD)

    20. I purchased a white skin body to hybrid with a NS head from another company that has a very light NS.
I don't think I would normally choose WS but under these circumstances it worked out nicely.
