1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I was just wondering...

There are so many beautiful dolls to see in the gallery and the number of owners increses everyday and everyone showing off arrival pictures, photostories, just because pictures, fashion pictures and travel picures..pictures of all kinds with their boys and girls.

With so many to look at, when you click on a topic to look at the pictures...what compels you to decide to leave a comment or not?

In my case...i usually just look and don't comment to often. Sometimes i will because i know the person and their boy/girl, or i have been a long time admirer of the dolls type of that specific doll. Of course every once in awhile a picture will just really reach out to me and i just have to express my admiration :D

      So...what about you?

Also...I know sometimes people post pictures of their boys and girls and there will alot of views but very few replies..does this dishearten you? Or does it just make you want topost more pictures with different layouts and props and so forth?

      ~Allestra :D

    2. I post a comment when the dolls catches my eyes or when I see so many people view it but didn't leave a comment then I'll leave a comment becuz that would make the person who takes the time to take pictures and share it w/ the community feel appreciated and happy. I feel that way when people leave comments to my post, it just makes my day reading the replies people take time to write.

    3. I'll comment if the doll really catches my attention.

    4. Mostly it's beautiful photography, posing, clothing and wigs. Even handmade or simple things can be beautiful when photographed properly, as proven by my many hastily and crappily done outfits XD My dad was a photographer, so blurry pictures (that aren't arty) and things poorly composed or details that aren't paid attention to (like a tree growing out of someone's head) irk me...pet peeve, I know...*sigh*

Of course I have my favorites and my friends that I follow, though in general I look at every topic in the gallery...I enjoy seeing all of them, but my comments are just an extra kudos for a great job.

    5. I usually check on the photos from people i know or certain dolls i want to see. I usually look at all of them in the gallery that are new when im at work because i have a lot of spare time then, lol. I usually leave comments to ones that catch my eye.

    6. edit : Now that I'm running on more than two hours of sleep and realized what I posted before sounded fairly apethetic or rude.... When I've got the time, I try to look at every gallery post-- my little problem is that I have the attention of a four-year old  And if I don't post at that moment due to time issues or something else catches my attention, I tend to forget to. But even if nothing or little is said on a picture, I still enjoy looking at everyone's posts even if it's a doll that's not to my tastes or the picture taking is "amature" (I know mine will be!), it's still really great to see so many photos of so many different types of dolls (both company-wise and style-wise) in one spot. :chibi

    7. I'm kinda guilty of only looking at gallery posts that include the dolls I own/like/want to get

For instance, if I see a "(Isao Nanjou)" or "(Heath)" I'm much more inclined to even look -- usually, I'll completely pass over doll types that don't interest me. And forget girl dolls. I rarely ever get the desire to even look at those.

So those are the only posts I tend to comment on. I'm pretty bad

    8. I'm far more likely to reply if the picture is in the post and not in a link. (I always hesitate to click on links.)

I enjoy humor, character, story-telling, beautiful photography and beautiful or unusual dolls (not necessarily in that order.) I almost always respond emotionally to someone who is obviously enjoying their dolls or the hobby in some way.

      That said ... with my sore wrist, I can't leave a response nearly as often as I would like to. ^^;

    9. I usually leave a comment if I look at the post. lol I certainly try to anyway.

    10. I'm another one who has a habit of looking most often at posts that involve molds I like, or dolls I'm personally fond of. Being on dial-up, if I tried to look at every post, I'd be here all day and still not get finished. Even then, though, I don't post a lot of replies, because I never know what to say. After a while, it's all just squee, and I always feel bad if I don't have something constructive to say (same reason I don't post much feedback to artists and authors, even though I'm looking/reading).

      If I find something particularly beautiful or become overwhelmed with emotion, I'll go ahead and give in to the squee. But otherwise, I tend to think it's best if I just hide and be quiet, like I do everywhere else. ^^;

    11. If it has a link, I don't even bother to look at it and go right back to gallery. Generally I try and reply to all of my friends and LJ friends, and then my "favourites" on here. Other times, its just if I really like the photography or the particular doll, I'll leave a comment. often I will admire but have no idea what to say. I found the little emoticons useful, for this.

    12. I used to leave comments ALL the time to just about every gallery post.

Now, though, it's summer, and I'm hardly ever home. I don't have the time necessary to keep up with the scads of new posts, so I hardly ever leave comments in the gallery. Most times, I don't even have time to look at all the pretty pics. =/

Hopefully my life will slow down a bit in the fall. :) Then I can go back to posting.

    13. I try to leave a comment in every post I look at but there are just sooo many  So I think I leave a comment when I really like the pictures, or when its a headmold/doll I really like and have time for commenting

    14. Oh no, you busted your wrist too? *big hugs* I hope you get well soon!

As for me... I appreciate 1. beauty and 2. humor (both according to me, of course) ^^'

    15. Lately my internet connection is bad, so I havent been in the gallery as much as I'd like. But usually...

      I respond to:

~~ My friends, or dolls I love and always keep track of.
I think we're all interested in seeing pics of people we know. If I know from someone's journal that they've been waiting for a wig, a small part of me starts waiting for it too, so when I see it modeled in the gallery, I feel like saying something.

~~ Well-taken photos based on a theme or focus.
For example, 'meet-up' or 'garden pictures' or whatnot.

~~ Photos that do more than just say, 'here's what my doll looks like.'
Maybe they make me laugh or get an emotional response.

~~ Doll types that interest me, either because I have one or want one.

      I don't respond to:

~~ Arrival pics, unless it's a doll type I've never seen before or the new owner does something creative with them.

~~ Photostories. Some people love them, but if I have to read text between the pictures... well, I don't. So often they don't make sense to me and I skim past them. It's partly because the text loads before the pics and I hate how it looks when I'm trying to follow text and pics keep jumping in and making the screen wonky.

~~ Pics that *only* show off an outfit or wig or whatnot. (As in, 'this just arrived and I put it on my doll and took the picture with the doll standing in the middle of my messy kitchen table. Do admire.')

~~ Photos that seem to be a ploy for selling something later. ('Here are the new oven mitts I made. Which might be coming soon to a Marketplace near you, if there is enough clamorous attention in THIS thread...')

~~ Overly modest posters or those who pick their photos apart before I even see them. ('My camera sucks and this is just a pic of my L.E. Shirou, his faceup kind of sucks and all but.... aww shucks, just look anyway.' *instert 50 comments of assurances*)

~~ I never, ever click external links. And I don't look at threads unless the title has more than just the doll's name and little else.

Sorry if any of that sounds too negative,I haven't even looked in the gallery for a week, so none of it is about a specific thread/person.

    16. I reply to the posts of people ive struck up a rapour with.

I reply to posts that show artisticly done pictures.

I reply to picture posts of dolls that I like/am interested in and tend to pass over certain types of doll.

Or sometimes I just comment to lots of posts cos im feeling loveyish...and im spreading the love...

    17. I am loving all the feedback, Its interesting to see what compels different people to post a reply. Thank you all for telling me your thoughts on everything so far!!

This is nice, it lets me and everyone somewhat get to know who you all are in a way. Even though its only a small part. :)

    18. If I see well taken pictures of a beautiful doll, or an interesting new idea I make a remark.

And I catch myself "sniping" posts about 1/6th dollfie, telling people that post pictures of THOSE dolls here that its not allowed and the mods are going to get them >.> (sniped a DP a few minutes ago)

But I do make a point of directing them to DollfieBegin or LunarArk.

    19. Bwiel summed up my responses to a "T".

    20. I think this is a topic with the potential of bringing up bruised feelings because I know that a lot of people feel very left out when they post pictures and get few comments.

It's probably safe to say that we all have favorite dolls and people we are better friends with and that since we all have limited amounts of time on the forum, those tend to be the dolls whose photos we comment on. No one is trying to hurt feelings...or at least I hope they aren't...but no matter how "beautiful" your dolls or how "artistic" or "interesting" your photos may be there's always the potential that they might not appeal to anyone else as much as yourself. We all have very different tastes and interests, which is part of what makes DoA so interesting.

And that's rather the point, imho. It's always nice to get positive feedback, but in the end, this hobby is very much about personal satisfaction/achievement/whatever-else-you-want-to-call-it.

Don't let anyone else's thoughts (or lack of thought) about your dolls or photos get to you...your opinion and the creative things that you choose to do with your doll(s) are what is important, not someone else's view of what you should be doing.
