WITHdoll Mini Discussion Part 9

@Cylunny I don't have any Dream Valley dolls, but I do have a number of others. Here is last years halloween photo.

They are from left to right: Iplehouse Boris, Lati Shaina, Withdoll Emma, Lati Cara on Luts body, Doll Leaves Wish, Iplehouse Tania, Miracle Doll Vic on Dollzone body.

Over all, I think it works ok-ish with most of them, especially in a mixed group like this. There are so many ways to look human, after all. But one on one I do take care who I pose her next to, especially for close ups. It's not just about head size, but face size and sculpting style too. For example, the Wish has one of the largest heads in the picture, but his face is small enough to look pretty good next to the Withdoll girl.

Who ever said the doll hobby would be easy?
I do own two Resinsoul dolls, one Ming and one hybrid using a Mei head on a male Doll Family-H body. Their heads are BIG, even compared to the rest of my group. The Ming is a fantasy creature so I still think it works, but the Mei boy is difficult to photograph with the others. Even next to the big eyed Lati dolls he looks a bit off. So for now I just keep him in a world of his own.

@Cylunny I'll take an updated MSD photo but I think my Withdolls gel well with my MSD collection (Latidoll/Volks/Luts/Fairyland/Logan's Doll/Clockwork Faery/Asleep Eidolon) but that's because I collect elves.

 

So here are my Withdoll Ruby and Egon front and center (Clockwork Faery and Asleep Eidolon to their left, Sartoria J MSD behind and to the right.)


And then here is the whole two line of MSDs.

From left to right, back row: Luts, Latidoll, skip over two bigger dolls to Sartoria J in the blue dress, Sartoria J guy (he is huge for an MSD). From left to right, front row: Fairyland Minifee, Volks MSD, Volks MSDC, my two Withdolls, Clockwork Faery, Asleep Eidolon, and Logan's Dolls sitting. Not pictured is another Volks MSDC who needs to be completely restrung.

So, minus what I would call realistic MSDs (Sartoria J), they fit in quite well with other MSDs. They are on the slimmer side so do the bulky Volks clothes they are wearing really fit them? No but that's okay. Does Minifee clothes fit them? No. Luts clothing has fit the best, as does the clothing that Withdoll sells. They can wear a variety of wigs and eyes but Withdoll's measurements are true.

Does anyone have a Withdoll in light rosy brown? It's so hard to find pictures of it, I'm deciding between that and rosy white for a Withdoll Mai (Withdoll Mai pictures would be very much appreciated as well ❤️)

Does anyone know if I have an old (2020) Real skin Withdoll, what of the renewed resin might match best? Since it has aged and yellowed I’m wondering about Beige instead of Real… I know none will match properly but with blushing to disguise … hmmm

I’m considering getting a Withdoll boy to add to my doll collection, but I’m very divided on whether I like the JWD body or not. What are your experiences with the new type? I have experience with Impldoll, Bimong, Souldoll and Fairyland, and I like their bodies a lot.

on a different but related note; does Withdoll have any decent resin matches with other companies so that I can hybridize him with a body I like more?

 

@Fractal I'd say the JWD body is all right.
It does have the annoying string constellation where the legs are strung to each other, rather than going up through the body to the head and that does inevitably cause some instability. The doll can stand and sit all right, but the thigh joint can not support any weight unless the leg is positioned straight down, so any kind of "in the middle of taking a step"-pose is impossible. This is the only real issue I have with this body.
Other than that the is nothing really out of the ordinary going on. The double joints are a little bit snappy, but nothing extreme. Maximum range of the joints are pretty good.
Shoulders are good.
Wrists and ankles are good.
I own an Emma and her neck needed sueding, without it her head liked to snap to a tilted position, but that's an easy fix.

Out of the bodies you listed I only have experience with the Souldoll female soulkid bodies. I'd say Withdoll is on par with the new double body and a fair bit better than the NL body.

And, for reference, my definition of "good" when it comes to posing is: A joint that I can put in the position I want, let go, and have it remain in that position.
