The smirk is priceless, and I needed a female sculpt that is on the more androgynous side.

Best Points:

Really nice sculpting on both the face and body. Aesthetics-wise, I love her so much.

Worst Points:

While the HID poses noticeably better than my JIDs and has better ankle mobility, she still has those infamous "butt clickers" that could look so unattractive if seen from the wrong angle. The elbow joints aren't easy to pose, either.

She is the same character as the other Adhara in my doll profile list; this is her form when in "stealth" or "dormant" mode. Like War-Adhara, her L5R incarnation is known as Ikoma Kaguya (formerly of the Bayushi family).

Name story:

Kaguya (written as 香紅夜 -- "incense," "deep red," "night") is actually the character's legal name, but she is called "Adhara" by a trusted few. It literally means "virgins" in a tongue foreign to her birth land.

See her War Form for the details. She appears in her warlike version by default, and only takes on her more intimate "dormant" form when in the presence of her male and female mates, her daughters (biological, adopted, fostered), and her sons (older, younger).

Known as Shosuro Kaguya during her childhood, she joined the ruling family of the Scorpion Clan by marriage to Bayushi Isamu, to whom she had been betrothed for as long as she can remember. Scorned as a failure where attracting the romantic attention of others was concerned, Kaguya was initially ambivalent to her husband-to-be. She had a deeper relationship with childhood friend Shosuro Okuni, who was also her most enduring lover. However, Isamu was genuinely devoted to his betrothed, turning their arranged marriage into a love match. To her devastation, he vanished under suspicious circumstances hardly a year into their wedded life together. Kaguya spent most of the next ten years trying to uncover the truth, until she was suddenly required to go on a delicate mission with a bushi from the Lion Clan, Ikoma Jinsuke.

Despite a rough start, she and Jinsuke developed unexpected rapport, which only strengthened the longer they worked together. They both knew that falling in love with each other would carry heavy consequences, but they were soon unable to deny that their connection had already gone beyond mere comradeship. The sudden reappearance of her believed-to-be-dead husband Isamu seemed to dash any hope of marriage between Kaguya and Jinsuke, but an unexpectedly sympathetic Isamu offered to free his wife from her pre-existing marital vows. Against all logical thought, Kaguya chooses Jinsuke over Isamu, in the process giving up a lot of the comfortable aspects of her life in the Scorpion lands for the relative austerity of the more militaristic Lion Clan.

However, unknown to most people, Kaguya had a secret in her past, and in her blood, that had the potential to either draw the Scorpion and Lion Clans closer together, or reopen old wounds between said Great Clans. Ultimately, the Scorpion agreed to give her over in marriage to the Lion, at the expense of having their eldest child fostered by the bride's side of the family. Thus, Kaguya took on the Ikoma name, also agreeing to study as a shugenja among the Lion Clan's Kitsu family to make the most of the powers that come along with the heritage her Lion mother passed down to her.
