When Alastair was a baby, he was dropped off on a rich family’s doorstep. He could have easily been your stereotypical smart, rich kid- excelling in school and swimming in emotional neglect, and with his pretty, refined features, he certainly did look the part- until he was sent off, put in the care of a complete stranger all of a sudden. It turned out he actually was one of the last specimens of a rare, unique subspecies of werewolves, one that couldn’t reproduce with any other species and was thus on the brink of extinction, and that his adoptive family had known all along, and planned to send him away from the start, only keeping him until they could find another of his kind to give away to.

Among the particularities of his race, was the way they aged - they grew extremely rapidly in their firsts stages of life, gradually slowing down as they progressed - so that, for example, they would’ve stayed babies for only a couple months, but already they could appear as children for at least a decade, and so on. Another trait of the specie was their biology - divided in primary and secondary genders, alpha, beta and omega.
The final nail on Alastair’s coffin - the man who had taken him in was an aggressive, neurotic, domineering alpha, and Alastair, you guessed it- an omega. Thom, the alpha, had basically only taken him to be his mate - to repopulate.

Alastair is, to put it simply, an emotional wreck. He’s riddled to the brim with his adoptive parents’ emotional neglect, resulting in him being clingy and desperate for any affection he’s given- even at his own risk and danger. It’s why he puts up with Thom- because he craves his affections, his kind moments and the love he thinks he can give him.
