  • Name story:
The name is a "shape change" of Zoroastrian divinity/divine Ameretat (or Amerdad) that represents the concept of immortality. It is "misshapen" on purpose - I did not want him to be directly named after the entity, but I found the base gave an appropriately "ancient and foreign" ring to it.

Gabriel was 26 when he died, Ameret is etenal and has been in possesion of the body for aroubt 30 years.

Gabriel has been, as many of his age mates a collage kid with big dreams, he studied history and his grand aspiration was to be a modern adventurer of sorts, to explore and discover and be famous for it... Not a very realistic dream.
Ironically thou, he did get an opportunity to live it - at the age of 22 Gabriel met his future wife - exuberantly reach and recently widowed. Adalia Moor was 47, more than twice his age, but that was 47 with the best care money can buy and she was a beauty to begin with. You see Adalia was Moor by marriage, not birth and her late husband was more than three time her age... That is likely why that marriage remained childless despite all attempts.
Before passing away Brennagan Moor left a will, that left all his worldly possessions to his wife, but with the condition, well, two of them - first she had to have a child, that would carry the Moor family name, and second - any man she married had to take her family name, not the other way around. That rulle applied to her child in case that was a girl as well.
What is there to say? The old man was old fashioned AND desperate.
After some consideration and a lot of attempts from his family and friends to dissuade him Gabriel married Adalia and changed his family name to Moor, a year later the couple had a baby - a son. It all seamed to be a smooth sailing from there on - Adalia always wanted a kid, and was overjoyed to baby it, and Gabriel got all the money he could possibly want to travel the world and sponsor any amount of expeditions he could come up with. He even started a TV show about "archeology" (it was not particularly good scientifically speaking) that got some traction, mostly due to him being a hot, buff guy with pleasant personality, a lot of passion for what he did, and a tendency to go shirtless i hot climates...
Until an ill fated expedition to Egypt a few years later. A couple of month before his sons 5th birthday.
All was going smoothly - Adalia was attending a charity event at home, and was going to travel with her son to see her husband on his expedition in a couple of days, so they all could cerebrate the boys birthday together when she received the news that Gabriel and all his filming crew where missing, which was bad enough, but in a couple of days she was althou notified that she was denied entry to Egypt, as was her son and pretty much all known associates of her husbands.
And two month later she received an official letter that stated Gabriel and his crew had all died in an accident while filming inside a pyramid. It did not even specify which one.
Distraught and grieving Adalia spend next two decades trying to find out what exactly has happened to the crew, and why Egyptian authorities refused to send her husbands body back for burial, an obsession that ended up with her dying "of natural causes" despite being a very healthy woman with great medical care... And living her son to deal with a very murky family legacy.
What she did not know was the fact that Gabriel fell victim to Bellara, sorceress, "I'm to old to have a last name" and her attempt to summon an otherworldly entity she had some kind of plans for... And sad attempt did not go well.
In fact as far as Bellara was concerned it just plain old failed - she did the ritual, in the right place (that being a veeeery old burial chamber) at the right time, and yet the vessel just died, without any spirits inhabiting it... Or so she thought. What Bellara was not aware of is that the whole spirit summoning and possession thing went a bit squiggly - instead of temporary inhabiting Gabriel, and yes it was he who she picked as a vessel, the ancient entity merged with him completely, creating a new being that needed tome to "hatch" properly.
It took Ameret ten days to open their eyes again, and when it did it was pissed... It had eyes after all. It was not supposed to. Not only that but Gabriel, while no longer a proper entity still clung to it like a bunch of whet rags to a zombie merman. No longer concerned with worldly rules, goods or families Ameret set out to find the sorceress that did this to them and take revenge...
Which is actually where the character story begins... But hey, I can't add a small book her, can I? :D
