Avalon is what happens when I don't see enough unicorn folk running about online, haha! I have always loved drawing and roleplaying, and I especially love creating new races and things of that sort. While I know unicorn people are not a first, it just seemed natural to create my own roleplay character, design her, and then eventually bring her to life in the form of a BJD.

I initially had a really hard time finding a sculpt I liked for her. Everything was just - I don't know. I struggled a lot, point being. There were prices to consider, sculpts, body types, all manner of things. While I have drawings of her and a clear image of Avalon in my head, I was really worried about how it was going to translate out into doll form, so after a LOT of deliberation and comparing, I ended up going a safe route and getting a ResinSoul Ai.

I had a lot of reasons for why I did this, the biggest one being price. I'm relatively new to the hobby and have only been in it a year, but I've made a lot of mistakes with dolls that cost me a lot of money and I wound up selling most of them, so the price point was a good reason for Ai.The other reason I liked this sculpt was the fantasy legs - my version of unicorn folk have faun legs, but not the Mr. Tumnus kind of legs. I really liked the sculpt for the sleek design of the legs. In addition, her face was really delicately done and I absolutely loved it.

After ordering I spent a large amount of time trying to find perfect accessories. Unfortunately, this didn't go well and I had many flops with wigs that I ordered and wound up hating. The one she sports is just a random one I found on eBay that I really love and was perfect for her. It needed modifications to allow for her ears, though. For her outfit, she honestly didn't even have it for the better part of a year (mainly because her character is naked pretty much all the time.) I found the outfit at the 2016 PNW BJD Expo.

When she arrived, I was ecstatic! The doll was exactly what I wanted. The problems I have currently are the flopping stringing that Resinsouls tend to arrive with, so that needs fixing. But honestly, I didn't care. I was so thrilled with the doll, but nothing compared to how hard I fell for her when I got her back from her faceup artist.

Resinsouls tend to get a lot of crap. She's my second one and I absolutely love the sculpt and the company. When she came back from Culur - whom I had sent a drawing of what I wanted Avalon to look like, which she copied exactly - I couldn't believe how beautiful she had turned out, and honestly whenever I find myself wanting another doll I just look at her, and I don't want anymore. She's beautiful, perfect, and everything I wanted in Avalon. The eyes from Ersa Flora made her come to life in ways I couldn't even imagine. Her necklace was a stroke of luck after a friend gave me a little knitting kit that had beads included, one of them being this tiny quartz pendant. I ended up taking the pendant off another BJD necklace and replacing it with the quartz one, and bam Perfectly proportioned crystal necklace.

The rest of her body blushing, hoof painting, and nail painting was all done by myself.
