"To every man upon this earth death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds,
For the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his Gods?”
― Thomas Babington Macaulay, Lays of Ancient Rome
"It's hard to live with so many disagreeing feelings within one single mind.
It's not that I exist with some other rational conscience speaking within my brain, but it's like they say: every existance leaves a mark in the world.
Imagine what happens when you become one with another existence? Those marks somehow entangle with yours. They carve deep, like scars of a long lost battle.
"Oblivion" means "being forgotten forever". But that is not true. Not to our world.
I now see that this Oblivion means "creating". When an immortal soul throws itself to forgotteness, it becomes something else entirely different. And that's what my mother did.
The marks of her existence are carved all over my spirit. She killed my soul and her own when she mixed the two of them and created the new one. I can no longer say I'm a Goddess of Ice or a Goddess of Love. I am both. A cold love, with all the anxieties, torments, joys and tragedies.
This is now me, how I was never before. These feelings are all mine and I live each one of them intensely. My mother's existence became my legacy and the burden of Oblivion weights heavy on my body. Like a winter sun, I shall hang on to the sky."
