Caerhirn is a long-term soldier in the keep of the necromancer, Xanthier Bellicost. Although this has earned him a justly negative reputation, the dryad himself is not corrupt. He is simply a hired sword carrying out his given tasks.

Grown in the glades of central Skala, from the moment his leaves first unfurled he was oversized. He continued to grow at an astonishing rate, reaching past the height of his mentors at barely four years old (The adolescent years for dryads). A slow student, academics did not come easily to him and he was ostracized and tormented by the youth, eventually breaking off from forest society all together. No one was expecting his reappearance, much less under a dreaded banner. The elders shook their heads. Bound to turn out bad, that one.

...Caerhirn is an opinionated but gentle sort left to his own devices. A bit of a loner, he takes company selectively, and only opens up on his own terms. His dyslexic grasp of written language and slurring low-class speech give off a sense of non-intelligence. But he's quite bright- what he cannot understand in words he grasps in intuition. A classic salt-of-the-earth type, he is rooted in common sense, and his blunt manner can rub the wrong way. Consequently, he avoids speaking at all in some circles. He is closest to the Twins- a pair of pod-like dryad snipers- who view him as a sort of father figure. They appreciate his more domestic interests- cooking, painting, whittling, music- and help him navigate those less than stellar social skills.

Still, embedded is a vicious, violent streak. The truest definition of 'living tree', he can tear people to pieces, and hurl bodies for feet. His armored presence on a battlefield is a terror to behold; a proper berserker. Bellicost likes to unleash him on his adversaries midway through a conflict, and watch their numbers fall like dominoes.

There's also an orc version (DnD) and a troll halfblood (Discworld), but the dryad is the canon.
