Charley was born in a bottle. Their creator wanted to create a being that could shift at will; constantly growing for study. Floating in their jar, Charley mutates at random, slowly reverting back and forth from a human appearance to something more alien, never the same twice.

Long since abandoned, Charley has spent what feels like forever in a dormant stasis in their capsule. They never had a great concept of dates or time, and it's been so long since they saw their creator, they have no idea how many days have passed.

They awaken to a looter rummaging through what's left of the ruined, dusty secret laboratory, searching for things he can sell for decent coin.
