Reason for choice:

I found Ruri while browsing the 'BJD For Sale' tag on tumblr. At the time, I was preparing for my nursing boards and was fairly nervous. I bought Ruri as a reward to myself for my hard work, and she arrived a day or so after I found out I had passed. She was totally blank and all mine to customize. She and I have learned a lot together as I've spent more time in the hobby, and she'll always be very special to me.

Best Points:

I love how expressive her sculpt is! It's really easy for me to depict a wide range of emotions coming from her depending on the angles I photograph her at. She also poses and holds her poses very well.

Worst Points:

She stains so easily, and only the DD Rescue Cream VOLKS makes is safe to use to remove said stains. I tried using Twin Pines Remove-Zit on one of her hands, and the entire hand greened. People also say that WS is very hard to photograph, but I haven't had a problem with that just yet.

Name story:

'Chiruri' is the title of a digital animation short I first saw while I was in school (if you Google it, it's the first video that comes up). When I found it, I was going through a very difficult and personal loss during which I had a lot of trouble expressing what I was feeling. This kind of helped me find my words. Ruri herself has helped me heal a great deal over the years I've had her, so I feel the name fits very well (although, prior to picking Chiruri as a name, she was named Celia).

Chiruri (“Ruri”) is a yurei (ghost or spirit), and is sort of bound to the school she attends as it was her place of death. She doesn’t really remember anything about the circumstances regarding her passing and doesn’t have an overwhelming desire to seek out details about it. Since her lack of memory keeps her forever tethered to the world of the living and unable to rest peacefully, however, she feels like at some point it’d be nice to know. Ruri is shy and kind of an airhead. She is easily swayed by the desires of others and tends to just go along with whatever her friends or classmates would like to do as far as extracurricular activities are concerned. She enjoys cooking for her friends, and quiet hobbies like sewing.
