Dash is the youngest of two boys. He was a troublemaker, while is older brother was the perfect son. Their parents, of course, favored the elder; Dash grew further apart from his family until they couldn't stand each other anymore. He ditched his birth name because he doesn't want to be reminded of the people who gave it to him.
Dash loves to fly more than anything, so at age 18, he joined the "Space Force" and became a pilot--an easy, cheap way to get his own ship (even if he didn't actually own it). He didn't like being part of the military much, but his family approved of the decision, so his relationship with them improved. That is, until he was dishonorably discharged for killing someone he was ordered not to engage. His trial was all over the media, and while the general public approved of his actions, his superiors would not tolerate his disobedience. He went to prison for a couple years.
After working as a ship mechanic for a few months, a little-known division of the government contacted him to be their pilot for a top-secret retrieval mission. Little did he know, it was not a thing he was retrieving, but a human girl. . .
