Decimus was a Roman Praetorian who was born more than 2000 years ago. He was called Agrippa the Beast by his enemies, and the unconquerable Decimus (mockingly) by his kin. Although he was an excellent fighter and strategist, reknowned for his prowess on the battlefield, he was also bullheaded and could be extremely hard to control. He failed to rise in rank the way he would have thought himself worthy of, and instead indulged his bloodlust and desires outside convention.

It was during an underground gladiator battle that he met first met Merula, the assyrian slave who would leter become his life-long rival. The two's destinies would be forever entwined since then on.

Decimus then met (and lost to) Lyon on a battlefield in Carthage. Lyon was extremely impressed with Decimus' skill and wanted to turn him into one of his scions. When he learned of Decumis' name, Lyon was extremely amused and wanted to make him his 10th scion. Though at the time, he was only up to 9. Lyon later met Merula on a separate occasion and made him his 9th. And despite it making Merula more powerful than Decimus, he highly resented his not being Lyon’s first choice.

Decimus and Merula have had been each other’s rivals for centuries. But when Lyon turned ‘soft’ (aka, not bloodthirsty and warmongering) Decimus's extreme loyalty to his sire swayed him into soon following suit. Merula felt betrayed and bitter over that, and tricked Decimus into forfeiting most of his power to Merula, leaving him with only his immortality and trapping his form to be that of a child.

After meeting Yayoi, he managed to restore his adult appearance, although he still currently is without any of his powers aside from immortality. Although he has now sworn to be an upright and peaceful person, Decimus can always be heard saying that if he ran into Merula again, he'd kill him.
