Dolcetto Versevaiz

Maker:
BlueFairy / MinoruWorld
Head Sculpt:
May
Skintone:
White Skin
Body:
Junior Boy Body (33cm)
Sex:
Male
  • Face-up artist(s):
    BlueFairy
    Date of acquisition:
    April 2015
    Provenance:
I am the first owner and I bought it from the company.
    Reason for choice:
I bought this doll as part of a planned set and had him planned long before availability and purchase. I wanted all the dolls in this set to be from the same company, to ensure consistent aesthetics, but to have variety of body types, facial types, gender, and color within the set.

I wanted at least one tan, white, pink normal, and pale normal doll, an even number of males and females plus at least one unisex, and one of almost each body type that BlueFairy offered (girl, boy, dandy, blossom + SF tiny, JR tiny). I wanted a feminine and masculine boy and girl, as well as different eye/facial types (gentle, serious, dreamy, bright, neutral).

Dolcetto and his twin, Dolcetta, fulfill the following: white skin, tan skin, identical/twin sculpts, matching pair concept, and Junior boy and girl body types. They are both androgynous and have neutral, calm facial expressions.

The May sculpt is easily my favorite among the tiny face sculpts BlueFairy has. It's innocent, yet impassive expression is really open to interpretation.
    Best Points:
I like the unique size, since YoSD size is a bit small for me. It's so convenient that it fits Nine9 Bunny-size clothes too. The face is also just so cute.
    Worst Points:
The color already looks different and more yellow than my newest WS BF doll that came months after. I worry that that means it's a fast yellower.

It's the worst poser of all my dolls, especially the elbows and knees; they always want to pop out of place and flip around.

The unusual size does make it difficult to find many clothes options for it, especially shoes.
The faceup is actually a female-type faceup for the doll; I had special-requested that they change the female body to a male one when I ordered this as a Limited Edition. The faceup may be slightly different from their normal style due to being LE as well.

The shoes are an unusual size between YoSD and MSD; Nine9Style's Bunny line shoes fit perfectly and their clothes also fit very well overall.
  • Eyes:
    14mm Gray (for now)
    Wig:
    6-7in White/black/gray
    Favourite colours:
    Monochrome, gray (minor)
    Fashion style(s):
Eclectic, high contrast, assymetrical, monochrome. Gray can sometimes be added as an accent or support color.
  • Name story:
'Dolcetto' sounds like 'doll' at the beginning and means 'little sweet one' in Italian. It's the name of an Italian grape wine. Verzevais is a made-up last name inspired by 'vice versa', to play off the opposing twins theme.
    Character age:
    ??? 500+?
    Character gender:
    Male
    Offsite roleplay:
This doll's character is available for offsite roleplay.
Creature Classification: Andolim (Series 0, OOAK, Maker Pygmalion)

Andolim is short for 'animated doll golem'. Andolims were invented by the fairy Pygmalion; upon being revealed to the public eye, they were quickly popularized as rare luxury goods exclusive to the wealthy. High-quality andolims like Byrne are easily worth more than their weight in gold, and perhaps even more than their owner's weight when fully accessorized.

Though not technically a living creature, andolims are beings that possess souls and are capable of individual thought and feelings.

Though incapable of using magic themselves, they are extremely adept at handling magic items and creating items that are suited to magic enhancements.

Dolcetto is the exception to this rule, however. He is completely incapable of even using magic items; he actually has a unique ability to cancel out magic and neutralize magic items and enhancements.

    His Story:
The Versevaiz twins were made as a matching set by the famous first andolim-creator, Pygmalion. They are extremely unique and special andolims for this reason: Dolcetta is capable of using magic, unlike other andolims, and Dolcetto is capable of cancelling magic out. You can hardly see one without the other, and though they seem like opposites, they are quite close. Dolcetto has a very calm and stoic personality and is steady as a rock. He's quite reliable.

    About Him:
His element is 'void', or 'nothing'. Though it can't use magic of its own, it has the ability to neutralize magical spells, items, and abilities. It can do this by touch or sometimes close proximity. His hobby is meditation.
