Eduard is an artist. But his medium is not canvas, marble or wood - its raw materials are the dead. Eduard's job is restoring and embalming deceased people at his father's funeral home, where he works as undertaker. And he is a real artist when it comes to bring back life to their pale and sometimes deformed faces. Eduard loves his job. Since he can remember he is fascinated by the death. To keep life from aging and decay, concentrate on work without the need to communicate with other people (he can't stand people, noise and senseless talk). The only thing which makes him sad is the fact, that all his wonderful artworks end up buried in dark and dump boxes. Pretty faces, neatly dressed with peaceful expression - and no one will ever see them again, Eduard will never see them again! One day Eduard started to keep some tiny keepsakes hidden in his hobby room, his pretty private museum. In his spare time Eduard is sitting in his favorite armchair, drinking a good glass of Scotch and is enjoying the company of his silent friends (and parts of them).
Later he meets Judas, a handsome young looking doctor. First Eduard is quite irritated by him, he is not very used to talk to living people and cultivating social contacts. He tries to keep distance to Judas, but the young doctor wouldn't give up and shows up more often, after they get to know each other more better, Judas even starts secretly bringing him fresh material to work.
