Reason for choice:

I've always loved this sculpt. The second I laid eyes on this sculpt for the first time I knew I had to have it. It was love at first sight, and I've been on a quest to acquire her ever since.

Best Points:

It's still, after many years, my favorite sculpt. It's so beautiful and expressive.

Name story:

The name randomly popped into my head when I was thinking of who this character might be. Other ideas were Isobel and Isodora.

Being a daughter of the royal family, Elisolde grew up in a palace. She always felt out of place. Her skin too pale for her auburn locks, her body too plump, too freckled, her movements too awkward to fit in between all the beautiful dresses and ornate grandeur of the palace. While growing up it becomes quite clear to her that others, too, agree that she isn't a beauty, and that others seem to pity her. She learns about the world outside and the more she learns, the more she starts to despise who and where she is. Why is it, that the people outside have to live in poverty, while she and everyone else in court wears the most amazing silks? Why is it that the castle is adorned with scrollwork and ornately curved iron fences, while out there, people grow hungry? She despises beauty and everything that is considered beautiful.

One day, Elisolde decides to run away. She finds a place with a blacksmith’s family, and there she learns a lot about herself. She learns things, from the blacksmith, his wife, and all the neighbors in the town. She learns that the iron fences that the palace commissions can feed a family for a long time. Also, it becomes so boring if you have to make simple, straight fences all the time. And a knitted sweater with ornate colorwork worked into the design, is twice- or even three times as warm as a simple plain sweater, because all the threads for the different colors run in the back of the fabric making it thicker. So, beauty can have a purpose, too?

Elisolde grows more beautiful every day. Her skin is colored by the sun. Her body grows strong. Her auburn locks fade lighter with every passing day, until her hair is a perfect snow white. How? Was her hair being dyed all this time? What does this mean? Is she really the king’s daughter? There are a lot of things to learn and a lot of things to find out. How is her heritage linked with the strange things happening in the world?
