Hexed (헼스트, stylized heXed or h3X3d) is a six-member South Korean girl group formed in 2016 under Idoll Entertainment. The group consists of Pearl (Jinju), N.D., Annie, Eunbi, Areum, and Nara. In addition to regular promotions with all six members, the group is split into two subunits: Hexed Honey (“good witches,” sometimes called Team H; consisting of Pearl, Areum, and Nara) who have sweet and cute concepts, and Hexed Diamond (“dark witches,” sometimes called Team D; consisting of N.D., Annie, and Eunbi), who have sexy and glamorous concepts. The group is currently focusing on training and some pre-debut individual activities. Hexed Diamond is expected to debut first, with Honey debuting as soon as Diamond’s promotion cycle ends. All six members will then promote a third song together, making for a long and potentially arduous debut period.

Areum, born Heo Areum (허아름) in Seoul, South Korea, is the second-youngest member of Hexed, at 17. She had the third-longest training period before joining the group, and was also the last member to join the final group lineup, after being switched in for a trainee who suddenly quit the company. Areum has always dreamed of being an idol, and has worked hard to achieve it, but her sudden late addition to the team makes some others feel she hasn't earned her place. She is a sub-vocal member in both the main group and in Hexed Honey, which makes her worry that she has few chances to stand out.

Audition
After an unsuccessful audition the prior year, Areum was selected to become a trainee at 16. She sang “Gone,” by Jin (of Lovelyz), and though she has a long way to go for vocal training, she worked incredibly hard to perfect the song and gave it the performance of her life. She makes quick friends with her new roommate in the trainee dorm, Han Eunbi, and the two often practice together. She is the stark opposite of the “celebrity” trainees Eunbi and Nara, who have fans long before debut, though, and is a complete unknown except for appearing in social media pictures with Eunbi.
