    Backstory

Inara is lost in the enchanted woods. She has no memory of herself or her life before she mysteriously appeared there. She wants to remember but is also afraid to. She struggles to learn who she is and to find a balance between understanding her past and not dwelling on the past but rather living in the present.

Inara has the gift of making anything she imagines become real. Her gift is incredibly powerful but comes with many limitations. Inara rarely uses her gift; the factors that could interfere with her gift are so numerous that at least one of them almost always interferes. Her first hindrance is that she doesn't know how her gift works. Secondly, her gift works only when it happens naturally, when Inara is uninhibited, filled with her genuine heart's desire, and present in the moment in every respect. It won't work, for example, if she is distracted, preoccupied, worried, hungry, tired, indecisive, or not passionate enough about her desire. Her gift also doesn't work if she tries to purposefully use it. But occasionally, when a strong heartfelt desire flows from her in a moment without any hindrance, what Inara imagines becomes real before her eyes.

Positive character traits - modest, contemplative, considerate

Inara is unaware of her own beauty and grace. She is in awe of the enchanted forest and feels a spiritual connection with it. Introverted and quiet, Inara walks softly and feels a sense of wonderment as she takes in the beauty around her. The woods speak to her old soul.

She is introspective and is searching for meaning in her life. She empathizes with and wants to listen to the struggles of anyone who feels lost, like she often feels. Inara is an excellent listener and will ponder your thoughts and feelings long after you share them with her. Even when she is at her most serious and somber, she is never unkind.

Negative character traits - preoccupied, withdrawn, sullen

Inara's search for meaning sometimes manifests in an obsession about her past. Who was she? Why can't she remember? Why was she brought to these enchanted woods with no memory? Can she ever be her true self if she never fully remembers her past? If she keeps focusing on the past, will she ruin the present?

When she is in the throes of obsessive thinking and feels lost, Inara can be self-absorbed. She can be aloof, cold, distracted, and somber. She might even sulk and be oblivious to the effect that her dreary mood has on others. She may be hard for her friends to reach and may decide to carry her burden alone rather than confide in her friends or be receptive to their attempts to connect with her, cheer her up, or take her mind off of her obsessive thoughts.

    Doll relationships

Inara is befriended by Lily, a young and lonely girl who wants desperately to find a best friend. Inara is patient with the needy and clingy Lily, and she allows Lily to follow her everywhere. Lily is thrilled to have Inara in her life and idolizes her. Inara feels lost in this new world and lost inside herself, but Lily helps her feel a bit more connected to the world and not as detached. They become like sisters, and Inara is a tolerant and quiet big sister.
