Hailing from the Southern Water Tribe, Korra was discovered to be the next Avatar when she expressed talent in bending more than one element at the age of four. From that point on, she was put through rigorous training to prepare Korra for her lifelong responsibility as the bridge between two world (the spirit and material worlds).

At seventeen, Korra grew restless with her training and headed to Republic City to seek out airbending training---and a new and exciting experience. She would find herself swept up in the Probending lifestyle, making friends with two brothers who would become her fellow teammates---Bolin and Mako. Through the trials and tribulations of life as a competitive athlete and a campaign that would later rock the city, the young Avatar's life would certainly become more exciting---and tumultuous.

Korra by nature is very competitive and in your face. She also tends to act first and think about the consequences later---at least in the beginning. Through a variety of situations that would test the young Avatar's mettle, Korra would become more patient, tempered and compassionate to the perils of others. She is passionate about the goals she undertakes, to a point that it sometimes ran into conflict with those close to her. She also tends to express her opinions and thoughts openly.

Romantically, Korra got entangled in a messy triangle involving Asami and Mako, the boy at the center of both girls' affections. As time passed and the friendship between the trio matured, both girls realized that Mako was an ill-suited boyfriend, and eventually settled on just remaining friends. After some years passed, however---Korra and Asami mutually began to realize there was a romance blossoming between the two of them, and eventually took the steps towards making it official.
