Krom is a shapeshifter and quite possibly the most powerful of his entire race. Shapeshifters are ancient, mysterious and feared throughout the universe. Despite their lack of technology they are widespread, but thankfully rare. They have a general apathy towards most lifeforms and are notoriously hard to kill as they can shift their form into any configuration of matter that they have encountered and consumed before. As long as a single mote of them persists, they can begin to consume matter and regrow their mass.

Shapeshifters rarely meet, but when they do they are compelled to consume one another. Lesser shapeshifters fall easily, but when two powerful individuals clash entire civilizations can be destroyed in the ensuing battle. Krom is one such individual.

Which is why it is ever so surprising that he attaches himself to Mina. Her uniqueness, as well as that of her associates (chiefly Wren), piques his curiosity, and makes him pause. Even the utterly mundane terrestrial Bagel possesses a certain... charm.
