1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Laika Morden

Head Sculpt:
  • Face-up artist(s):
    Body blushing artist(s):
    Diamantis got her from Dollmore in November 2014. She was then traded to Kattunge, who then traded her to me.
    Reason for choice:
    I really wanted an MSD girl, but I was a bit short on funds. I scoured the marketplace for someone who was willing to trade their MSD girl for an SD doll I owned at the time, and I was able to find one! Not only that, the Dollmore Alexia that was being offered was an extremely sweet sculpt with a shape that was more childlike/appropriate for her age. In the end, she only cost me the shipping of the doll I sent, as well as the customs. A steal!
    Best Points:
    She is very solid and her sculpt is unafraid to take up space. She is bigger than all of my other dolls and could beat up the boys if she wanted to.
    Worst Points:
    Maybe it's the way she's strung, but when I'm trying to dress/pose her, her legs (and sometimes torso) like to spin around exorcist style.
  • Eyes:
    Something blue from eBay
    Red Dollmore wig that came with her
    Favourite colours:
    purple, yellow, green, and blue!
    Fashion style(s):
    She wears cute, child-like things. Mostly casual clothes, if not a little dressy.
  • Name story:
    After tossing around a few names (Her name was 'Calla' for a while, since I had asked for naming suggestions and flower names seemed pretty) it turned out that with a Keith and a Caius, there were probably too many 'K' sounds bouncing around. I decided that since her name was technically a WIP, it didn't make sense to change any of the boys' names which were practically set in stone.
    I had been listening to Arcade Fire's 'Laika' for a while and the name was very pretty and kind of tragic. Since I intend to give all of my dolls tragic backstories anyways, it definitely fits! Laika is also the name of one of the first animals in space, as well as an animation studio.
    As for her surname, I was looking at her and just contemplating how sweet she was, and how she made me think of Loreena McKennitt with her red hair and her sweet persona. I wanted to give her a name that would reflect Loreena as well.
    Laika Loreena was a little redundant, and I didn't like the sound of her last name being McKennitt. Like I had mentioned in the first post, there would be too many K sounds! Loreena's middle names (Isabel and Irene) were vowels, and didn't fit well with the end of Laika's first name being a vowel already. As I read about her life, however, searching for inspiration, I discovered that she was born in Morden, Manitoba. The sound of the name Morden pleased me, and it worked well with her first name. Despite its sinister meanings in other languages, I was hooked. Given that Laika is also a name with tragic associations, I did not mind at all!
    Character age:
    Character gender:
    Offsite roleplay:
    This doll's character is not available for offsite roleplay.
    Laika is eleven years old. She likes flowers and bugs and writing stories about other people and places. That is all I know right now.
