A descendant of Zhuyin, Mǎ Rù was born into a colony of dragons on the very edge of the Taklamakan Desert. For thousands of years, his family has guarded a mysterious tree that grows human-faced fruit that speaks in prophecy. He didn't expect his life to be any different, until a strange Jotunn planted an idea in his head: that he didn't have to stay if he didn't want to. And then one day, one of the human-faced fruit disappears, and someone has to go off to find it...

His great-uncle is local desert-dweller Kauṃ.

Name story:

His family name, Mǎ, is written with the character 瑪, meaning "agate." His personal name is Rù or 褥, "bedding." In universe, the surnames in this community come from words indicating multi-coloured things, while personal names are related to houses or household items. I thought the name was pretty.

This is the child version of a character I'll likely end up having two dolls for, because I love him just that much. His named is derived from a (possibly mythical) king of Gaochang. It’s written with different characters, though.

(I really didn't realise this doll was based on the character of Zhuyin from The Secret Lives of the Immortals until I'd solidified his background... woops!)
