There are two storylines:
The Moon story where Marie is the plush friend of a little boy who comes alive at night when the walk to the moon. When the boy becomes too old, Maria decides to stay on the moon and starts to run a moon bakery.
The Unsociety Story where Marie is the female chibi version of Ramiel who is a genderfluid Egyptian god who used to run a café in early 20th century Vienna, but is now the Janitor of the huge apartment complex owned by The Unsociety.
