Meara

Maker:
DreamingDoll/Luts
Head Sculpt:
DD Little Elva Leia
Skintone:
Normal Skin
Body:
Luts Kid Delf old style girl body (small bust)
Sex:
Female
  • Face-up artist(s):
    DreamingDoll Company Default
    Date of acquisition:
    Body - 12/15/14; Head - 6/14/16
    Provenance:
Body was purchased secondhand from DOA marketplace as part of a Luts KDF Kiwi. The head was purchased directly from the DreamingDoll website.
    Reason for choice:
This headsculpt with the default faceup looks almost identical to the painted illustration on the cover of a children's book I loved as a kid: "Seal Child." I have always adored that painting and character, so when I saw the sculpt it was an instant decision. I put her on the KDF body because, a) I already owned it and DD sells both full dolls AND only heads, b) I wanted a more immature body than the standard DD one, but their smaller bust version does not have the lower torso joint I prefer.
    Best Points:
Literally almost everything. She looks, and moves, and seems exactly as I had envisioned when I purchased the head to complete the character.
    Worst Points:
She has a smaller than average head for an MSD, so finding the right wig to complete the look is giving me trouble.
Meara is a selkie--a seal who can assume human form out of the ocean. Her specific character is the title character from the book "Seal Child" by Sylvia Peck, here: Seal Child

She is gentle-spirited but also very curious and cheerful. Everything about people and land life fascinates her, and she loves to try new things. She wears what her friends give her, and often mixes and layers clothing that makes very little sense together.
  • Eyes:
    Unknown grey glass
    Wig:
    Monique Gold 7-8 (was braided
    Favourite colours:
Soft pastels and beachy colors, natural earthy colors, too
    Fashion style(s):
Confused. Mori girl with a seaside bent. She's not human, so she wears whatever people hand her to wear. Tends towards oversized comfy things.
    Key fashion accessory:
Big sun hats--she's not used to being out of the water much
Meara's main outfit is a soft pink dress seen on the cover of the book she's from. She has a few different hats, to block the sun, and she's usually barefoot. I think of her in a mostly Mori-style type, with lots of loose, comfy layers depending on the weather. She loves different textures.
  • Name story:
Meara stands alone in my collection, as she was drawn from a beloved book. Her name is of Irish origin and means "sea," roughly.
    Character age:
Very young as a seal, probably only 6 or 8 months, but she's a young girl in human terms
    Character gender:
    Female
    Offsite roleplay:
This doll's character is not available for offsite roleplay.
She fits size-wise with my other MSDs, but she is more realistic looking, so she tends to be on her own. She's a great one to gaze at when you want to feel relaxed and serene. She clearly knows a lot she doesn't say, and always finds the joy in any situation.
