Mimer

Name story:

Named after a street in my hometown, which, in turn, happens to be named after a figure from Norse mythology. My Mimer does not have any connection to the mythological figure, however - I simply enjoy the sound of the name.

Mimer was born into a small, rural community whose members worship an ancient deity that has long since been forgotten by the rest of the world. She was always a curious and inquistive child, and began asking the older members of the community about the outside world as soon as she could speak. Unfortunately, she quickly came to learn that such questions were not only frowned upon, but outright forbidden within the community, as were all forms of communication with or exploration of the outside world. They already had everything they needed and more; the outside had nothing to offer them, the other members insisted, despite the fact that none of them had actually been outside the community themselves.

Mimer was not easily dissuaded, though, and continued to pry and prod and question the people around her well into her teens, earning her a reputation as the community's number one problem child. When she turned eighteen, the community held a vote, and she was excommunicated, as most members believed that her constant opposition of the group's values and traditions was disrupting life within the community and risked influencing other members. For Mimer, this decision was a blessing rather than the punishment it was intended as. Her story begins with her happily biding her family farewell and setting out to explore the world with nothing but the clothes on her back, her hunting rifle and a small bag containing food and tools. On the ensuing journey, she encounters everything from two-headed canine gods and giant fish monsters to disgruntled dancers desperate to escape the big city.

In terms of personality, Mimer is quite reserved and a bit emotionally detached from her surroundings. She delights in her own company, but also enjoys meeting new people every now and then, and is generally pretty nice and friendly when interacting with others, albeit a little awkward. She is a witty, resourceful person on a perpetual hunt for new experiences.
