A legend people have stopped believing in. He is a force that used to have power through people's reliance on the consistency of his associated natural phenomena. As the modern era has come through, however, people have begun to forget the tales they used to spin about how the leaves turn crisp in autumn, and why lightning sparks in the sky on gray days, and why the air smells so fresh after the rain. With no one to believe in him, Mordecai and his memory are both slowly falling apart.

He never had a real identity to begin with, but as time has moved steadily onward, his memory is fading. Having been given many names and identifiers in the past, he has begun to scramble them and forget. Most of the time, when pressed, he'll provide a name in a panic, but won't remember that it's his when it's used, much to his distress.

Mordecai appears primarily to people who hold onto just enough whimsy to believe. His physical appearance changes based on the observer, though he can also manifest as a human. When he does, he tends to completely forget that he isn't human and gets very lost.
