I like early and mid 20th century North American history, so I chose my dolls' names by perusing the census lists of the appropriate birth year.
Amelia is Regina Montomery's big sister, and has cousins Sadie, Maggie, and Inez.

Amelia was born in Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada in 1918. Her parents have a reasonably prosperous farm. She married a Mr. Wilcombe in 1937 and was widowed the next year.
Amelia and her sister (and the 3 cousins) now live in Guelph, Ontario, where she works as a typist and/or holds a defense job. (Current story time is 1941).
Amelia has a dry sense of humor, is sometimes impatient with the boisterousness of her younger relatives, and is intensely practical in her approach to life.
