Head Sculpt:
Angel of Dream
  • Face-up artist(s):
    Date of acquisition:
    September 24, 2018
    Purchased through Alice’s Collections
    Reason for choice:
    His fox-like expression!
    The pet-project shikigami of Ashiya Douman. As much of a stickler as he looks. He was created as part of a bet between Douman and Abe no Seimei, to see if a shikigami with independent will and human-like abilities could actually be made. The answer was yes, to an extent. Mostly he just ended up wildly in love with Douman and extremely anxious about his lack of ability to write decent poetry. He tries to be stoic and confident, but deep down he has a lot of emotions and they usually come out sooner, rather than later.

    After Douman died, things were pretty rough for him. It's been a thousand years or so, and things are going a bit better for him, especially since he seems to have met someone strangely familiar...
  • Eyes:
    12mm Sprouty Doll Urethanes
    Leeke PureBrown Art Wig
    Favourite colours:
    Black, pale blue, moon colours
    Fashion style(s):
    Heian-era nobleman’s clothing.
    Key fashion accessory:
    Beaded and embroidered veil
    I’m bumbling my way through making all his outfits. Right now he's wearing a kariginu, a popular clothing item among Heian-era noblemen.

    I've never seen a kariginu in real life.
  • Name story:
    His name is the character for “nothing” (無) and “moon” (月). Together, it refers to the moon not being visible, such as when it’s new or due to rain. It’s also an elaborate anime reference.
    Character age:
    Created in the later half of the 900s.
    Character gender:
    Offsite roleplay:
    This doll's character is not available for offsite roleplay.
    His creator is Ashiya Douman because I really like the Ashiya family from Karakarakemuri's Warau series, one of my main creative inspirations for my dolls. I probably should have made him an Abe project though, because Ashiya is a nightmare to research! His other main inspiration is Kagura from Demon Prince of Momochi House by Aya Shouoto.

    His stories involve a lot of poetry - thanks, Heian Japan - so I stole most of the ones I use from Tale of Genji... even though that book just barely intersects with Douman's lifetime...
