  • Face-up artist(s):
    Soul Doll
    Date of acquisition:
    28/12/18
    Reason for choice:
    I fell in love with the Isabel sculpt as soon as I saw it. Even though it didn't really match the character at the time, I knew I could make it work. She is just such a beautiful doll!
    Best Points:
    Her double joints work really well, and her hands are insanely elegant. The resin feels nice, and she is a solid doll.
    Worst Points:
    She came strung with very thick elastic which makes it near impossible to remove her head. She has next to no mobility at her chest joint. Her head is on the smaller side, and this is somewhat noticeable next to my other dolls, but I've gotten used to it over time.

    Mostly black and white, but enjoys having a splash of colour here and there too.

    Meet Rachyl (Rae for short)!

    She's in her mid twenties, and has had a pretty worry-free life. Despite her delicate appearance, Rachyl is very clumsy, and always sports bruises from her latest knock or tumble. She likes to express herself with crazy hair colours, but is otherwise lazy when it comes to her appearance. She does like to look 'good' though, and takes pride in her femine figure (although she'll never admit it).

    Rae is the sort of person who doesn't like involving herself in other people's lives. The few times she has interjected her thoughts and opinions in a conversation to try to help a friend, her advice has fallen on deaf ears. She is very in-tune with the feelings of those around her, and is somewhat of a modern-day empath… however she's not very confident when it comes to connecting with people via these emotions, if that makes sense.

    She has a family: a mother, father, and brother, but she doesn't contact them as much as she probably should. Rae isn't very outspoken, but has strong opinions that she chooses to keep to herself. Although I wouldn't say she's a nobody, she does prefer her own company to that of a large group.

    Rachyl only really has one close friend, who she has known since she was little. But they don't talk much these days, because they live in different cities, and neither have the best communication. These days, Rae has a couple of social circles that she interacts with on a semi-regular basis. Rachyl is somewhat of a satellite in these groups, and is seldom the centre of a conversation or gathering.

    Rae is a government employee at the local hospital. It’s a one-stop shop for humans and Syntia alike. Rae works exclusively with Syntia to help them learn the behaviours they will need to exist alongside humans. Rachyl teaches the Syntia everything from body and colloquial language, to social cues, and how to read and respond to human emotions. This is a crucial part of a Syntia's successful integration into society. Without training from someone like Rae, Syntia mannerisms are quite jarring, and humans generally don't respond well to them. Rachyl has been in this job for the past two years. She is very good at her job.

    She lives alone in a small studio room on-site, and works a 40 hour week. Rae knows more about her colleagues that they realise, despite their limited interactions, and they know next to nothing about her. She holds her cards close. Rae is constantly and unwillingly intune with the emotions of people around her. She can and will take advantage of people’s emotions to avoid conflict. Rae enjoys the company of syntia in her work, since they are simple, logical beings that don't have hidden agendas.
