The Baby, the Stars Shine Bright shop in San Francisco hosts an annual Summer Tea Party. At the second annual party in 2010, they included a reservation lottery for the BTSSB collaboration dolls SD Charlotte and SD Lieselotte. Four of each were available and attendees had to apply prior to the event and indicate on their lottery application which doll they would like to win. Entries for both dolls were permitted.
- Face-up artist(s):
- Angel Toast
- Date of acquisition:
- 13 Oct 2010
- Provenance:
- Head purchased via the BTSSB "Red Sky at Night" tea party event in San Francisco.
DearSD body purchased from Snowgray 18 Oct 2021.
- Reason for choice:
- Iconically Cute
- Best Points:
- Great facial proportions make her easy to paint and style.
Love the heft and ease of the DearSD body.
- Worst Points:
- Would like the wrist joints to have better articulation, but it's kind of appropriate for the age depicted.
My wife and I attended and she entered the lottery for Charlotte while I entered the lottery for Lieselotte. At the tea party, my ticket number was drawn for Lieselotte but when the BTSSB staff referred to their entry checklist, my name had been mistakenly written in the Charlotte entry column. I was told that I could not have the doll and a new winner would be drawn. Doll people were stunned, lolita people were oblivious. The new winning number belonged to another member of our local doll group, who felt so bad about what had happened that he offered me the doll.
Adding to the weirdness, my lottery ticket hadn't been removed from the hopper and was subsequently pulled during the Charlotte drawing while my wife's ticket was not. So while my wife and I lost both the Volks lotteries and after events, we did get our girls directly from Volks via this odd little local event.

It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.Dismiss Notice
