There is a myth that Shinomori Jin came into this world the way Athena, Greek goddess of wisdom and war, did: sprung fully-formed in a bespoke designer suit from his father's head. Despite his status as an illegitimate heir with no claim to any royal title, Jin had immediately earned the favour of the stoic Earl of Wiltshire, who doted on him in a way he never would his other children. Determined to establish something of his own, Jin did plenty of extensive travelling post-university, later returning to New York City to set up Kiseki, his casino and resort complex.

Brilliant, dashing, silver-tongued, and a true man of the world, Jin returns to his childhood home upon the death of his grandfather, and finds himself the inheritor of a fortune that is already working to change society as he knows it.
