Shou is 15 years old and lives in New York with his mother Kiyoko (maiden name: Takehara Kiyoko). Shou was born to a British father and a Japanese mother.

His mother met his father Alan while he was overseas on a business trip to Japan. Kiyoko worked as a receptionist in the Japanese branch of Alan's company. Kiyoko fell in love with him. They married and together they moved to America.

Once Alan went to work he barely came home. He made excuses to work late and often left for trips without warning. Even on his days off, he brought paperwork with him.

After Shou was born, he was home even less. If Kiyoko prodded him, he would bring gifts for little Shou and made promises. Very few of them were kept. Shou began to question more and more why Daddy wasn't home. By the time Shou was old enough to start school, Kiyoko learned that Alan had two other sons from previous liasons.

Finally, Kiyoko decided enough was enough. She decided to confront him: if he cared about his family, he would spend less time working. Alan decided his work was too important. Kiyoko filed for divorce when Shou was 6 years old.

Shou resents his father for abandoning his mother. He tends to be a perfectionist and works hard. However, he has a complex about being like his father. He often bottles up his feelings and deals with them alone. It's hard for him to trust others, but he's slowly learning to open up. His strong sense of justice leads him to try and protect the ones he cares about. It's very easy for him to put himself out of the way to help someone.

Shou is very self-conscious about his appearance. His natural hair color is black, but he bleaches it blond. According to him, it makes him look more mature. His round face makes him look younger than he actually is. He hates when his height is brought up he's short for a boy (5'2" / 157.2 cm). He's also easily embarrassed.

He spends a lot of his time reading, putting together models, or hanging out with his friend Mikayela.
