Siwan was the fourth of seven children born into a loving family and she inherited from them a heart brimming over with love. She was a talented landscape and nature artist and received much encouragement from her art teacher but her parents could not afford to send her to art college, so she stayed in Dolwyddelan. Wandering on the mountain slopes, she would amuse herself with intricate fantasies of the elves and fairies that once lived there. Or at least she believed they were fantasies, until she met a real Sidhe, Brynmawr ap Bran, in a copse of oak trees. Head over heels in love, she eloped with him when she discovered she was pregnant, and their daughter Catrin was born soon afterwards.
Cait was seven years old when Siwan, on one of her many spontaneous wanderings, was caught in a snap snowstorm. Her body was recovered a few days later and buried on the slopes of the mountains she loved.
