Reason for choice:

I needed an old-school Volks MSD girl to round out my Harajuku girls, and this little darling needed some serious love. But it all worked out extremely well when I suddenly wanted to do a sugar skull (day-of-the-dead) character and realized that with her uneven yellowing, she would be the perfect candidate for a drastic repaint and makeover.

Best Points:

A project doll, very cheap but with great Volks presence. She deserved saving.

Worst Points:

Very unevenly yellowed, especially in her face.

She always wears cute and comfy flannel yukatas in a skull print, with decora styled obis and flowers in her hair.

Name story:

All my Harajuku girls have food names inspired by their wig colors. Her wig is lavender, so I chose the name Sugar Plum because it sounds cute and purply-based, and suits her sugar skull persona.

Sugar Plum is one of a group of 4 girls who are all best friends who work in a sweet shop/bakery called Sweet Dream Delights. The owner encourages them to wear fun flannel kimonos at work to fit the theme of the shop. They all live in the same duplex and love having slumber parties in their spare time.
